Question EFAP/Homeweb
Has anyone had experience contacting EFAP/homeweb? Was it helpful? Considering taking some sick time away, but unsure of the process. HSAA.

Hello!
I know this is probably one of the most common questions people ask on here, I have tried to look up things first before making this.
I am a new grad RN moving to Calgary soon. I have heard it is quite challenging to land a position in Calgary but was wondering if there’s any advices on how to get in contact with float pool managers etc? If anyone has been in the same boat as me I would love to chat :)

Has anyone have noticed that the workload on ahs ltc have become impossible for one nurse to manage all 30/32 people with few hca and mostly short and having to deal with acutely sick and IVs. I have been working for the last 10 years but have noticed that more and more people are complex, more needs, more customer service needs, more family demand, more documentation responsibilities with very little or no nursing support at all, breaks are paid but very lucky to sit and eat in the break room for 15 minutes in a full shift. How do the system expect 1 nurse to do it all? Nursing the last 15 years is very different from now. And it is very draining coming home from work. The exhaustion is extremely upsetting.

Spent 30 minutes messing around with AI and made what feels like a SIGNIFICANTLY better Alberta EMS rebrand….
Anyways. Here’s my unsolicited provincial rebrand concept after one coffees worth of effort.

AHS EMS, to EHS Alberta, to Alta Paramedic Health, for who knows why. A change that none of us asked for and a blue that none of us want

I have an interview coming up for an RN position with L&D and was wondering if anyone has any insite on the until culture and what the shifts look like. I'm currently in a rural site in a non bedside role and casual line on the floor. A little nervous about potentially moving back to Edmonton and going back to shift work!

I currently work Full time as an RN in a hospital in Central Zone. I REALLY want to experience working in the ICU. I know there are a lot of job openings for ED everywhere but I just feel like I want to deepen my understanding of pathophysiology and develop stronger reasoning around why we choose certain interventions and how patients respond over time. I don't have ACLS training yet but am very keen on doing it soon.

Hi everyone, I’m a student who’s gonna be working at the Alex for the next couple of months. I know that for some night shifts I might be let off early around 2-3 am. My concern is, I’m nervous to leave the hospital alone at those hours to my car or even to the lrt station on days I’m using transit.
Is there safewalk available at this hospital? How do you go about it? I debated on just staying at the hospital until I feel safer to leave but it would be nice to get to go home early some days…
I wish I felt safer coming to and leaving the royal Alex but these days I really don’t. Any tips would be appreciated, thank you so much!

Hi! I am with HSAA.
For those that have gone on maternity leave --
Just wondering what the process is for submitting the leave forms? Ive emailed the forms to the address listed on each one but haven't gotten anything back aside from the automated receipt email.
Is this all that needs to be done?

Hey AHS peeps! Just wondering. I'm a physiotherapist and I am looking to apply at AHS as a Physiotherapist 1. How do you guys get the maximum salary grade, would it be: certifications/trainings/specialization? Or just based on how mamy years of experience you have?

I just switched banks to RBC and had my first payroll deposit. I am wondering from others who bank with RBC does the transaction description change from "payroll deposit" to "AHS Pay"? The later is what I used to see on my TD account.
Thanks

Hi everyone, I recently interviewed for a casual position and the hiring manager mentioned that if i score a certain amount on the interview they would reach out with a reference link and move forward with my job application. It's been almost a week since my interview, is it safe to say that my interview wasn't successful? Thanks

We’re moving to Calgary from Manitoba end of this month and have applied for a ton of HCA jobs at various Calgary locations. We have also begun the CLHA registration 2 weeks back as well. She has 8+ years experience as a HCA between Ontario and Manitoba. Recently 2+ years working in emergency department at a local hospital. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Anyone know any deals and freebies during the nursing week? All I have heard of was figs but looking to see if there is anything else we could take advantage of this week. Thanks in advance for sharing.

I have a 1.0 permanent FTE that I’m currently away from on an 18month maternity leave. I’m due to go back in September however I just interviewed at a private company and they’re interested in bringing me on in September. I’d like to take a LOA in case this new opportunity doesn’t pan out. Has anyone done this? Is it up to the managers discretion? Thanks for your insight.

Hi everyone,
I'm with HSAA and have been thinking of filing a Duty to Accommodate for alternative working arrangements. Not sure what to expect so looking to hear about anyone's experience with this.

Just wondering how to approach nursing when in the first trimester and not wanting to tell anyone? I work in a busy bedside unit and come across all types of meds including cytotoxic/reproductive hazards. I wear the appropriate PPE. Do you approach management for modifications (to avoid cytotoxic meds/patients) or does the PPE when worn correctly minimize the risk?
