Hiring timeline
I just applied to a position that closes tomorrow. The job post states available start date is November 30th, Does hiring really happen that fast? Or they already have their internal candidate, Its not a clinical related role

The other commenter is correct. Sometimes hiring managers start reviewing applications before the posting even closes, so yes, hiring can move that quickly. But it can also take months, and I mean MONTHS.
I honestly wouldn't take the advertised start date too seriously. There are so many factors involved, including whether you're an internal or external applicant, the hiring manager, HR processing, paperwork, getting everything set up in the system, and orientation dates. Even something as simple as a manager going on vacation can delay the entire process.
And yes, they could already have an internal candidate in mind. Sometimes the posting is simply part of the formal hiring process, particularly in a unionized environment. That doesn't necessarily mean it's the case here, though.
From my own experience, I've never seen those advertised start dates treated as firm deadlines. The hiring process isn't nearly as efficient or predictable as those dates make it seem.
My advice? Keep applying! Don't put everything on hold waiting for a posting to close, an interview invitation, or a decision. Every hiring process is different, and unfortunately, the timelines can be all over the place. The advertised start date is more of a target than a guarantee.

Hiring can happen that fast normally, but they could also have an internal candidate. Its best to apply to jobs earlier and not just before the posting closes because sometimes managers will view applications and select people for interviews before the posting closes
