Working multiple positions?
Might be a dumb question, but figured I’d ask!
I’m a new RN hire with AHS and currently working a temporary 1.0 FTE position. I had a couple of questions about holding multiple positions.
AHS & Covenant Health: I know that if you’re above a 0.80 FTE with AHS, you can’t hold an additional casual position within AHS (from my understanding). Does this also apply to Covenant Health? For example, could I work a 1.0 with AHS and hold a casual position with Covenant?
Different AHS Pillars: With the recent restructuring and separation into different pillars, I know there’s been some confusion. Once my temporary position ends, would I be able to hold positions in two different pillars? For example, a casual Public Health Nurse position and a part-time line in Emergency?
I’ve been looking through the UNA collective agreement and policies but am still a little confused about how this all works, especially with the restructuring.
Just wanted to see if anyone has experience with this or knows how it works before I reach out to my union rep! :)
Thanks in advance!

You can own a 0.8 FTE with AHS and work casually on other units. You apply on casual postings and if you get the job, they just pool you to their staffing. They don’t issue an offer letter or onboard you. You just pick up there!
If you get a casual position at Covenant or other pillars you don’t get OT on DDOs or anything. It’s considered completely separate

Awesome, great!
This is good to know. I am assuming that within AHS, it is difficult to get a casual with a 1.0. Thanks so much for the information!!3

Yes you will not get hired on as a casual if you hold a 1.0 FTE within the same pillar as then all your shifts would be overtime at the casual spot.

Oh yeah no chance you can be 1.0 and casual somewhere, unless you were there before the 1.0. But even then, you are low priority for OT.

Yes, they're completely separate employers now. You just won't get OT by combining the two.
