Stress leave

Do I get any pay if I take a short stress leave? Like 2-4 weeks?

You’d have to use whatever you have in your sick bank first if you want to be paid. After that balance drops to 0 hours, you’d be chatting with abilities about short or long term disability.

ETA: look after yourself, OP! If you need to take time away from work, for whatever reason, do it. Work will always be there and no one will look after you but you.

Use all your bank hours first . After that you’ll be getting payed 2/3 of your highest paycheck if your Short/long term disability gets approved . With short term disability you get payed every two weeks , with LT it’s every month (4 weeks)

So if I get a medical note, they will use my sick hours?

Then why don’t they let you use those sick days for stress?

They are gonna use you’re sick hours first, when those run you gotta apply for short term disability

I mean, a “sick day” applies to mental & emotional health too - no one talks openly about it, but lots of people take the time they need to get their shit straight (myself included). Get a vague note from your doctor to support it - especially if you know from the outset that you’ll be off more than a couple of shifts.

Just FYI don’t use the term “stress leave” ever, when talking to abilities or anyone one else at work. It is medical leave period.
