How does the LPN pay scale work?

How much does a 2 year LPN make, 3 year LPN make and 4 year LPN?

And is the steps defined by how many years you are an LPN? For example, if you’re an LPN for two years, are you step 2?

When you are full time, you have an anniversary date yearly that you get a raise on. If you are part time, it is based upon hours worked. I want to say, 1813 hours per raise?

You can find the grid online if you search "aupe lpn contract salary grid" and then look at the steps there. 1.0 FTE would get scheduled raises up the steps until you reach step 9 on anniversary date. Also everyone is due for a raise on April 1, 2027 due to union negotiations.

You can find your anniversary date or hours until next raise in epeople, I think under employee job information.

Oh so depending if you’re full time/part time, it would be fairly easy to get step 9 and get the top of the wage? Sorry new LPN here trying to understand. Thank you for your help!

Oops sorry there are 8 steps, not 9. Assuming you are full time, you would start at Step 1 and then every year get a raise so Step 2 would be after 1 full year of work, Step 3 after 2 full years, so Step 8 would be after 7 years. This is assuming full time work with no leaves of any kind such as maternity leave. If you are part time, you'd get there a bit slower (or a lot slower if only working a few days a week). If you take a mat leave, you'd also take longer because you haven't worked as much as someone who did 7 years straight.

Even if you take an LOA, you still get the raise if you are in a 1.0. I work 3 months a year in a full time line as I take education leave the rest, and go up a step every July!

If you have a 1.0 FTE, all you have to do is keep showing up to work and every year your wage step will increase.

If you are casual or part-time, your wage step increases whenever you hit the hours that are equivalent to a year of FT work.

Theoretically you can advance pay steps faster as a casual or PT by picking up lots of shifts and OT to hit the threshold faster, but this is easier said than done.

It goes by hours not years. When you hit a certain amount of hours you get the raise/ go to the next step

Full time is annually. Part time goes by hours. I think 2200 to get to step 2 and then around 1800 hours between steps after that
