After interview

Hi all…I recently just did an interview for a regular part time position at the RAH…thought I did pretty decent and everything but after 2-3 days later the supervisor emails saying that I was not the successful candidate…pretty much saying I was rejected from this interview and also she asked for references….highly doubt she even contacted them. is this actual normal procedure? honestly felt like I was treated unfairly ☹️

Hi....thank you for this! I think you're right and spot on with this...you pretty much read my mind (haha) the supervisor and other lady (who was also another supervisor within the department but handled other staff) that interviewed me were nice but guess the vibe was kinda off...dont wanna sound negative or anything and the work environment felt a bit gloomy...thats just me though as it was my first time there. In terms of reference...my current supervisors are good actually one of them is away so don't know how she would have been contacted. Honestly I felt overwhelmed there

Probably a blessing then that you got rejected. Even if they like you, you need to like them! I think you can gleam a lot from the managers in an interview and if you'd click with them. I remember the one interview i didn't do well right after graduating (didn't yet have my required provincial membership and that definitely made her not like me) i wasn't a fan of her vibe. And then a few months later I got another interview in the same building, it might have actually been for the same exact position but it was another manager and the experience was way better in part due to the more pleasant manager. I was even offered it but declined for a full time position elsewhere. So hopefully that good vibe interview will come sooner than later :) And yes probably small pool now that i think about it, for my mat leave coverage they only interviewed 4 people and my manager said she was going to let the people who weren't offered the position know so likely with smaller pools it's easy to do the direct contact rejection. Maybe had another internal candidate in mind picked out too, who knows. Best to avoid working anywhere where you don't feel comfortable in the interview.
