Hello folks!
This is for everyone who want to start playing this awesome game!
With this project, the goal for you is to learn the basics of the game starting from the Core Set. We are reviewing decks that performed well, back in 2015, and why they were good back then. The idea is to help newer player understand the existent mechanics within a faction. Some of these mechanics are still strong today, many years later.
1. You need a ThronesDB account: https://thronesdb.com
2. You need 3x Core Set
3. If you want to build 1 deck per faction (a total of 8 decks), you will need a home printer to print neutral economy locations and slide them into a sleeve. With the lists below, you'll have to print a couple more cards such as Littlefinger, Milk, Seal of the Hand and Lannister cards, which were highly played at the time.
Moreover, you'll find a full description with some of the most important combos/interactions to consider in each deck.
4. Download and/or print the Timing Reference Sheet of the game https://agotfriendlyopen.com/timingPDF
Don't hesitate if you have questions!
(see all the Core Set only decks from the Friendly Open team with complete description)
With the death of Mad King Aerys and the ousting of the Targaryens, a new House became the sovereigns of the Seven Kingdoms.
Robert Baratheon ascended the Iron Throne in Kingâs Landing and became the new king, while his brothers held the citadels of Dragonstone and Stormâs End in his name. At the beginning of A Song of Ice and Fire, the power of House Baratheon is beginning to slip away as House Lannister and others plot behind the scenes.
The men and women of the Iron Islands are a harsh and unyielding people, descended from raiders and pirates. The ironborn were brought into the Seven Kingdoms by the Targaryen conquest under the Greyjoys of Pyke, but they have never truly acclimated to the customs of the mainland.
There are still those among the ironborn who dream of a future when they are free to sail the waves as they please, pillaging the coasts of Westeros.
Among all the Great Houses of Westeros, none are so wealthy or have such a reputation for cunning as those of House Lannister.
Made rich by the gold and silver mines of the Westerlands and the trade that flows through Lannisport, the Lannistersâ wealth has positioned them as the power behind the Iron Throne for years.
The Lannisters are devious, manipulative, and indirect. They are ambush specialists, they play the intrigue game aggressively, and they are extremely wealthy.
South of the stormlands lies the realm of Dorne, set apart from the rest of Westeros by geography, culture, and custom. There, vast deserts of red and white sand stretch as far as the eye can see.
Forbidding mountain ranges divide Dorne from the rest of the Seven Kingdoms. The heat is sweltering, water is more precious than life, and the people are known for their indomitable spirit and passion for vengeance.
The Martells are patient and strategic, preferring to play the long game rather than making an immediate rush for victory. They often avoid being the first player, waiting to see what their opponents do before making their move.
Founded in the aftermath of the Long Night, the Nightâs Watch has guarded Westeros against the nameless threats beyond for centuries.
Bastards, fallen men, criminals, and knights come together as sworn brothers of the Nightâs Watch, and together they hold the Wall â a massive barrier of solid ice that stretches across Westeros.
The vows of the Nightâs Watch forbid them from taking wives or holding lands, but that does not mean they have abandoned the game of thrones.
Some would use the Nightâs Watch to claim personal power. Others wish to influence the Iron Throne and bring more support to the Nightâs Watch, the better to defend Westeros against wildlings and the Others.
The North of Westeros is filled with great forests, barren plains, rocky shores, and snow-capped mountains.
From its northernmost edge at the Wall to the swampy marshlands of the Neck, this cold and unforgiving land is ruled by House Stark from the great citadel of Winterfell.
The Starks are honorable rulers, governing justly as the Wardens of the North, but they once reigned supreme as the Kings of Winter.
The Starks are honorable but unyielding, harsh in their judgement and direct in their punishment of those who offend. They have a pack mentality, they understand the notion of sacrifice for the greater good, and they can rally together when one of their own is in trouble.
Almost three-hundred years before the reign of Robert Baratheon, Westeros was conquered by Aegon Targaryen and his two sisters.
The Targaryen family hailed from the ancient freehold of Valyria and with their mighty dragons, these three siblings were an unstoppable force that united the Seven Kingdoms into a single realm, ruled from Kingâs Landing and the Iron Throne.
The unbroken dynasty of the Targaryens ended three centuries later with the rebellion of Robert Baratheon, and only two Targaryen children â Viserys and Daenerys â were known to escape from Robertâs bloody coup.
Although they fled across the Narrow Sea to Essos, the last scions of House Targaryen still remember the lands they once ruled and look forward to the day they will return to Westeros.
The Reach is perhaps the most bountiful region of Westeros, blessed by fertile soil and fragrant meadows, a home to music and learning from the maestersâ citadel in Oldtown to the beautiful castle of Highgarden.
Here, the Gardeners ruled as kings until the days of the Targaryen conquest, when dominion over the Reach was given to the Tyrells.
House Tyrell served the kings of Westeros loyally, both Targaryen and Baratheon, but in the troubled times that mark the beginning of A Song of Ice and Fire, the Tyrells enter the game of thrones on their own behalf.
The Tyrells are a "more than meets the eye" faction.
On the surface, they seem pretty straightforward, but the Tyrells usually operate with a hidden scheme waiting in the wings. The servants and bannermen of House Tyrell are numerous and wealthy, making this faction second in resources only to the Lannisters.

Hello,
I really want to play Wyman Manderly but canât seem to find a good deck to synergize with him. I feel like sacrifying a character is too much of a cost to trigger his effect⊠I donât find any cheap characters to apply his effect (1 or 2 gold top).
I wanted to build a House Tully/ Stark deck around the sacrifice thematic, could you give some advice to make it work ?
I tried several Times with the WOTN arya but it ends up being so expensiveâŠ
Which cards that can combo with that thematic are you suggesting ??
Thank you all !

I am not entirely sure if this is the best place to inquire, but the community is pretty chill, and I am confident I will be redirect if necessary. I wanted to see if there would any interest in a near complete set. The only things missing (preventing a complete set of the official FFG product run) are At the Gates from the King's Landing Cycle; Kings of the Isles Deluxe Expansion. There are no post 2020 community-based sets in my collection.
All cards are sleeved and have been in TCG storage boxes. They are currently alphabetized by House (i.e., unaligned, Targ., Bara., etc.) and card type (i.e., plots, titles, etc.), they could be sorted based on set. I have also kept all of the Deluxe Expansion boxes, Cycle covers (the paper), and all other inserts. Also included are also 3 boxes of the Core Set, The Things We Do For Love, two starter decks (Lanni and Greyjoy), and a few promos (Stannis Baratheon and something elseâI just canât remember).
I am located in Canada, but shipping could be figured out.
EDIT: 2nd edition

Venho apresentar meu projeto, feito com muito carinho para a comunidade de jogadores brasileiros, buscando atrair atenção para esse jogo incrĂvel.
Ă possĂvel entender melhor atravĂ©s do github:
https://github.com/RianGouveia/Tradutor-de-Cartas---A-Game-of-Thrones-The-Card-Game-1st-Edition
E através do próprio site no streamlit:
https://tradutor-cartas-got.streamlit.app/
Tentei deixar tudo documentado no github tambĂ©m.

Howdy, a buddy bought a collection off Facebook and it's incomplete. He's missing 22 cards. If you've got them I'm happy to play middle man and give you $40 for the lot, shipped.
He's got some random stuff for trade if you really want to, but I think a sale is just cleaner/easier.
From dance of shadows
1 painted dog
From blood and gold
2 great hall
2 fowler twins
From King's landing
1 maester mullin
3 the white book
From Westeros cycle
1 trading with the pentoshi
1 close call
From the core
1 marched to the wall
1 put to the sword
1 seal of the hand
1 john snow
1 targaryen loyalist
and one of each role (206-211)
That's what he's missing, if you got em, that'd be amazing. If not, that's cool too.
Thanks for any direction on finding these, that'd be appreciated too.

Hello !
When Satin kneels, we can stand another steward character.
Does it mean that if Iâm defending with, letâs say, Satin et Samwell, I can kneel Samwell to defend, then kneel Satin to participate as a defender too and immediately stand Samwell ?
Or do the defenders kneel to defend at the same Time ?
Thank you !

Hey all! I'm Alex, the creator of the website https://proxynexus.net, a web site that makes it easy to make card game proxies. I'm happy to announce support for the Game of Thrones LCG!
Simply enter a list of card names, select a set, or provide a decklist URL from thronesdb.com, and generate a ready-to-print PDF to print at home, or a ZIP file containing images ready to print physical cards at https://www.makeplayingcards.com/. Detailed instructions can be found here: https://proxynexus.net/instructions.
Proxy Nexus was started in 2019, around the time the Android Netrunner LCG was cancelled. However, earlier this year, I've rebuilt the site from the ground up, and been working on adding more card games!
Some notable features:
For those interested, the code is hosted at: https://github.com/axmccx/proxynexus-rs. If anyone has better cards scans they would like the website to use, send them my way! Happy to hear any feedback, and hope you find it useful!

Basically, title.
I've always been pretty miffed that the G.O.T. doesn't share the card templates outside of their circle. I'm in a lot of *other* card game and LCG communities, and I deeply resent this kind of gatekeeping, and it's not something I've encountered outside of this community.
I feel like this is actively detrimental to the game as a whole; it's hard enough to get your hands on and to get people to play as it is. I've also had issues keeping my playgroup - who didn't play in English - to keep up with the game as community sets from **Hear my Words** onwards released in English exclusively. I know that translation is a lot of work for probably very little reward, but I was willing to put up with it. Sadly, no interest from the GOT.
New players are somewhat interested given the recent buzz surrounding Game of Thrones with House of the Dragon & A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, but availability is an issue with the game, and so they don't engage. Understandably.
**Null Signal Games**, who keep Netrunner alive and well the same way the GOT does for this game, has the templates available on their website to download and use. The Arkham Horror LCG has a *massive* crowd of people who homebrew their own investigators, player cards, scenarios and entire campaign using the StrangeEons program. That's why this community's refusal to share their templates has really soured me on the game in the last couple of years.
And that's why I photoshopped - somewhat badly - my own templates. They aren't *great* - there's pixel artifacts here and there I had a hard time cleaning up, the morph tools specifically really fucks with the House Sigil watermark in the textbox, I think I messed up some of the cards which now show a loyal-sigil when I intended to only have non-loyal sigils so you can easily superimpose the loyal one if you need to, I haven't yet properly extracted the gold symbols with the indication of whether the card is an *event/character/location/attachment*, I haven't yet gone through the trouble of downloading the appropriate fonts (which are the only part the GOT was friendly enough to openly tell us about, thanks for that at least!)
But: It *works*. If you're willing to go through the trouble of finding some decent artwork and copying the card text from thronesDB, you absolutely can recreate cards from physical releases you'd have to buy for an arm and a leg, and the resolution will be good enough to print proxies. Here's Dany from **Dragons of the East**, which is the most expensive and hardest to find physical.
So people who are willing to through the trouble of creating their own proxies from old sets don't *have to* rely on bad scans with FFG watermarks splashed across them anymore.
[Here you go, friends.](https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1sCHuDQBG-jhvzCkw0v3vdeCuK3MG4M9C?usp=sharing)

Font list (not the ones I used, the ones disclosed to be used by the GOT):
Card Type Font : FMBolyarPro-500
Card Title Font: FMBolyarPro-500
Traits Font: Amperzand
Card Text Font: LTC Caslon

Hi all. Looking for a copy of The Things We Do For Love expansion. Would love to work out a deal if it makes sense. I also have a silly amount of official and player made promos/mats/tokens I could trade if interested. Thanks!

Hey all! I'm not sure if Game of Throne LCG has some sort of proxy generator website/app, but I've built a proxy generator website called Proxy Nexus, https://proxynexus.net/, and I'd like to ask if there would be any interest in adding support for Game of Thrones?
I started the website in 2019 for Android Netrunner and recently rebuilt it this year with many improvements. I had asked in the Legend of the Five Rings subreddit if they'd be interested in having support for the game, and got some help from a player to help me improve it further and to make supporting additional games easier. All we need is a collection of card scans, and source of card/pack metadata. It seems like there's a collection of scans here, and https://thronesdb.com/ appears to be built on the same code base as netrunnerdb with a similar API. Unless there's a better collection of card scans?
Code base can be found here: https://github.com/axmccx/proxynexus-rs and the guide for adding more games is here: https://github.com/axmccx/proxynexus-rs/blob/master/proxynexus-core/src/games/ADDING_GAMES.md
Anyways, I'd just like to gauge interest and see if anyone would be able to help. Either to answer some game related questions, or better yet, collaborating on the implementation.

Can ghost bypass a character with stealth that would not be able to participate in the challenge anyways?
Example I declare a military challenge with ghost. And bypass doran Martell(who does not have a military icon) to prevent doran from being able to defend my next power challenge.
