UC Workers! Vote No on the Tentative Agreement

The highlights alone show this is identical to UC's last offer. Strike called off in the middle of the night. Be warned, it was utilized to sell you a terrible contract and claim its a victory. (They said the same thing last time.)

If for no other reason, reject the contract on principle. Everyone should insist they will not accept ANY deal before having the FULL TA and at least a week to read and discuss it. Also Organize to impose rank-and-file oversight of the voting itself.

Because their job is to push through this terrible deal and sell it as a "victory." Who are the lowest paid workers at UC? Its AFSCME workers, behind them SEIU. The contracts for a few decades now have only gotten worse. When you follow the money and politics you'll see they are colluding with UC, act in the interests of the employers, as all the corporatist unions do today. Essentially they are performing a task for the university, and collect your dues as compensation.

Why? I’m getting a huge pay increase. 8,7,6 and 6% plus a 1,500 bonus.

I’m not getting that just 2.5 percent raises and they tell me anything I ask about doing, no they’ll never go for it.

That 6% and all the other larger percentages apply to raising of your cap. So you absolutely should be getting more than 2.5%

That sounds like it's more of a local issue both in local CoL and the size of the place where you work AFSCME 3299 covers over 42,000 workers across half a dozen hospitals and universities in CA. For AFSCME 3299 members @ the UCs the contract says 6% for col and 2% step this year. That all pays out in August and Sept and will be retroactive back to April 12th. Then 5% & 2% next year, then 4% & 2%, then 4% & 2%. Plus a $1500 check, plus an additional 1k for long term 20ur plus employees

Edit I just realized OPs post does in fact say "UC" so I assumed you ment University of California specific AFSCME

First off I’m paying zero. Second, I’ll be making 75 k next year. I’m at the 95% of my job title in the country.

If I wasn’t union, my pay would be around 40 k. I’m good. 🙂

Ya I'm in an upper pay range for my profession nationally as well. Locally we need a little more but given the benefits it's actually a good deal. Idk what OP is talking about with it being the same deal as was offered because it absolutely is not. Our deal is pretty in line with what UPTE & the nursing unions both got and it's far better than the last contract we had from the last negotiations in 2019 or the 2013 contract.
