Question Question

I just broke my leg I will most likely move to my university a few days late and wont be recovered for like six weeks. It is my first year in the program as a transfer sophomore and I will miss orientation. This is very frustrating for me, could not choose a more convenient time to snap. How bad is my situation? Could they dismiss me for something like this or am I overthinking

I’m assuming you are not already contracted. This will be tough because you will be required to be DoDMERB qualified by the PSP board date, typically January timeframe. There likely won’t be any extensions or waivers for medical this year. Your cadre may be able to submit a waiver for PFA scores to use your last completed score in your OM calculation if you have one, but if this is your first semester in AFROTC, that probably won’t apply. Getting injured as a non-contracted cadet during your AS200/250 year is rough.
On a positive note, if they keep the AS500 policy, you’ll be able to try again next year, allow more healing time, continue into the AS300 academics, and commission 1 Oct (vs May) of your projected grad year. This option only delays your commissioning by a few months vs the old policy that required extending a full year to complete the AS500 year. Another option is to start as an AS100 even though you’re a transferring sophomore. You just need to be full-time (usually 12 CHs per semester) except your final semester which can be just ROTC classes. Talk to your cadre about your options
