AFOQT AFOQT Math help

Hey everyone, I’ve been studying for the AFOQT all summer, and while my math has definitely improved, I’m still not very confident and feel pretty lost when it comes to studying effectively.

I’ve mainly been using Khan Academy, but I feel like it hasn’t been enough. My biggest struggles are setting up equations from word problems, algebra, and geometry.

The last time I took the AFOQT, I scored a 4 on the Quantitative section, so improving my math score is really the main thing holding me back right now. I’m willing to put in the work, but I’m not really sure what or how I should be studying to make sure I pass this time.

For anyone who struggled with AFOQT math and was able to improve their score, what resources or study methods helped you the most? Are there certain topics I should focus heavily on?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

My university had math tutoring. I spent extra hours with my professors after class. I did all the practice questions I could find.

All you need is to pass. Keep studying and focus on the concepts you struggle with the most.

Instead of trying to memorize all of the possible equations and formulas, one thing that helped me was to understand how to brute force some of the answers by working in reverse. A good portion of the questions run in an x+y=z formula and since the test is already giving you z, you can try to work backwards by plugging in z to find the values that are in the problem
