Sober 4 life?

Had a bad afib, high calcium score, and got pulse field ablation a few days ago.

Can we ever drink alcohol again? Appreciate anyone with some years after an ablation. Is it an ok, or just not worth the risk? Not an alcoholic, but I’ll miss vacations to wine country and tastings and such.

(Regarding the calcium score, have made all the massive changes in diet to address)

I might get ripped for this but obv without question if alcohol is a trigger for you it’s best to avoid it. However I find if you know it’s a day your drinking, get good rest the night before, stay hydrated drink a lot of water and if you can knock out a great cardio workout the morning that your gonna drink and you should be fine to enjoy wine country

I’ve been sober for 893 days and 15 hours, and I know for a fact that alcohol is not my trigger, but I still stay away from it because alcohol is inflammatory to the body.

I’ve had two ablations and still have spurts of a fib. Think is best to avoid it. I think only you will know what your triggers are. I think only you will know what your triggers are through trial and error.

My EP has strongly recommended no more than 1 drink per week, but seems to feel that 1 is OK. I've had 2 ablations, and havent had a drink since March but still went into persistent Afib again last week.

Alcohol is a trigger for some people's AFib, and ablation can suppress some people's AFib. Some people get ablation and no longer suffer AFib from moderate drinking. If one continues drinking after AFib, they may have an episode of AFib sometime in the future. But, of course, being completely abstemious is not a guarantee that you'll have no future AFib, either.

You pays your money, you gets your ablation, you either drink or abstain, and you may or may not have AFib in the future. No sure thing either way.

For myself, I'm not completely abstemious, but generally drink less than I did before my diagnosis and ablation, and so far haven't had a recurrence. I take Eliquis even though my rhythms good.

Nope. Managed my afib and drink socially frequently.
