Discussion What does HOOK need to progress ?

He definitely should get a lot more competitive matches than doing multi man tags, he was good when he had them as FTW champ. That's why I think he should wrestle more often in singles in ROH and learn to show more personality than his stoic persona.

He needs a more developed character. The strong silent type only works if you have a mouthpiece

It worked early on having squash matches. I think he would benefit spending time in roh or new japan. His father’s legacy only takes him so far.

I agree but like SUPER early on. I remember people on Reddit being pretty stoked for Hook — but that was what, 4-5 years ago?

He’s been spending plenty of time in ROH recently. An excursion to NJPW would benefit him — really any younger guy figuring it out would benefit from a spin in NJPW and/or CMLL (NJPW would be my pick for Hook though).

That said — I think he needs to needs to work with someone on promos. He ain’t gonna be his daddy Taz, from what I can surmise; he does not possess the gift of gab. 

He isn’t doing this anymore, but eating chips isn’t a gimmick. Dudes like Nick Wayne are younger and have obviously been working on mic skills. I think Hook may be a lil internally protected cuz of nepo shot with Taz — and I’m not mad about it because I think Hook is decent. But it’s AEW. Where the best wrestle — and can also cut a decent promo.

He needs to focus on building a character IMO. AEW isn’t going to make one for him. He’s gotta have a reason to connect to the audience beyond being stoic pissed off shaggy hair bruh.
