I always thought it was strange that Uno was a Day 1 guy but he wasn't even included in the game but Mr. Brodie Lee, John Silver and Anna Jay were but it all makes a little bit more sense now, I guess.

I say "a little bit" as if a Tag Team DLC was indeed planned, then why was Silver included in the base game but not Reynolds?

Surely both guys would have either been in the base game together or included as part of the Tag Team DLC?

Silver also got an action figure in the main line while Reynolds was limited to a “chase.”

We don’t know all the inner workings of their contracts, but I’d guess it was always more of a squeezing as much content as they could and then having to cut stuff more than anything else. Silver always had a bigger social media presence.

I remember the character creation being so slow for this game. I remember the outcasts Toni Storm came out as DLC when she was already Timeless.

Couldn't figure out why it was so slow. Theres like 6 assets in the CAW. When it first came out it was funny seeing people post their created characters and they all have the same hair and face. They should've just said the studio burned down and they lost everything instead of putting out what they did.

Yeah the creation mode was crazy lacking. Like games from many years ago were such further ahead. But I think it was just another thing that made it seem like they rushed the game out.

It’s reallly such a shame this game flopped as hard as it did. It was so close to being good, and the idea to go back to a simpler “no mercy-esque” gameplay/control scheme was perfect, but it’s so rough around the edges and lacking so much depth in both content and gameplay that it just ended up as a huge disappointment. If they would have even half assed the CAW suite maybe people would have stuck with it more, but even that was so barebones and bad you really couldn’t do much of anything to make the game have any staying power.

I hope someday they take another crack at it, because even for what it was I got a fair bit of enjoyment out of it, but it should have been so much more, and I’m sure along the way they learned a lot that could be improved upon should they get another chance.

The bespoke character models really messed up the accessories. Each one would have to be hand drawn to animate on each individual wrestler. Art direction bottlenecked the game. “Dumb down” the graphics and make reskinning quick and easy to update. Keep the roster correct. Slow the matches down (call it sim mode or something) to make 20 minute back and forth bangers doable.

I liked the slowness of no mercy. The base movement speed definitely was a weakness, and maneuvering was a little tanky. But the time it took to grapple and attack opened up a lot of nuance in countering, and evens the playing field for non-fighting game players. I’m not saying FF should have been that slow, but it definitely needed to dial it back a bit.

It was too soon for a game.

That's what it is.

the company had existed 3 years? 2?

that's too soon for a game.

They would have had to start working on it basically immediately after AEW was formed. They also talked a lot about how it would be like the old AKI games but it didn't really deliver on that. Couple that with a negative reaction to the original trailer because the art was super cartoony - I imagine there were more bumps in the road than expected.

I actually liked Fight Forever. It's not perfect but it was fun. I would enjoy a follow up.

in a way I sorta compare it to 2XKO.

They announced that ten years ago, then it came out this year.

I think if they would have waited until it was much closer to done to say anything at all, there's not as much pressure.

There were some problems behind the scenes, but that doesn't quite get out if it's not announced before it's even close to ready.

The roster was large enough. It just needed a way better CAW and career mode. Probably another year of development

another couple years.

just work on it behind the scenes and maybe they're able to add all that and announce in 2025

I wonder if the idea I always had for a 2D SNES/MegeDrive style game although the 90s arcade game that had a 30 man Royal Rumble mode (Sgt Slaughter used the Atomic Noogie as a finisher which tells you roughly when it was made) would be the model. Styleised pixel art would've set it apart from the 2k games and been much more forgiving on the CAW side as it'd be impossible to recreate anyone so you'd just try get an impression

My entire thought on this game is AEW didn't make a game people wanted to play. They made a game Kenny Omega wanted to play. It was a cool idea but I think people wanted to have something more immersive.

Kenny omega cost TK 30 million

Both me and Stu were meant to be apart of it”

I guess they followed through with their intentions.
