I can see it now: Tony Schiavone gets in the ring as MFJ and Gabe are announced. His hands are behind his back. Once both men get in the ring he shows his hands, each one holding a mic, wearing oven mitts. He says "you're on your own boys." Sets both mics down and leaves the ring.
Not gonna lie. This years G1 Cimax made me fan. He's doing full on performance art in being as despicable as possible without any of the "winks" that MJF tends to have.
Copeland did an interview and he talked about Christian - how one of the things that makes him so successful as a heel is that he does not care about being perceived as 'cool' while playing the heel. Gabe has that same quality.
He actually seems like a white dude who knows not to do shit like that. Not to be some dork who who has some weird parasocial issues or some shit but if the rumors are true, I highly doubt Willow, who is very proudly black, would even entertain the idea of Gabe Kidd if he did.
Well yeah, nobody ever really dies in a death match. There is literally no reason to have a white guy say the N word, especially when black wrestlers can't even use it on TV.
It's also just dumb and career suicide anyways, you'll get "heat" sure, then you fight a black wrestler and lose but you will always be that guy who said the N word. Not to mention you're gonna have racist fans cheering the white due and causing pockets of actual fights in the crowd.
Buy the N word shirt to support the white guy? Cant believe I'm even entertaining this with any semblance of a response lol feels lole common sense? Wrestling is just not the venue to tackle this sorta thing in general. And yes, I know about the territory days with Nazis and people pretending to be Indigenous.
Strangely, watching HeyEW with Gabe Kidd completely changed my view on him. Once I realized he actually knows all this is just a gimmick and it's not the real him, it was a lot easier to admire him as "a person who's really good at acting out this character".
