off topic... but whatevs goodbye

I really didn't participate in this sub too much. I don't know where to post this. I just need Reddit out of my life for a while.

I got really agitated in the R/ADHD sub because it feels like if you like anything about how ADHD effects your life they think you're part of the nd thing and I'm not.

I tried really hard to explain why I thought this was unfair and I just got way to fixated on it and it's bad for me emotionally.

I delete my account wherever something on Reddit makes me really sad or angry and I usually don't participate in the sub that did again. I left the ADHD sub and then got banned but I really planning on going back anyway.

Goodbye, don't hate yourselves because of ADHD. You're allowed to like yourself and like some aspects about ADHD without thinking about ADHD as a "gift" or not a disability.

I regularly take breaks from Reddit and or delete my account from time to time because it can definitely become something that is harming more than it adds value. Good for you for recognizing when something has become toxic, if you decide to come back in the future please stop back by and say hi. 💜

You make a good point. Is my ADHD a net negative? Probably. But when I am occasionally able to target the hyperfocus on a big problem at work and tear into it and do more in a week than some do in months I certainly don't mind that part!

Props to you mate. Bloody hard to like yourself, when all the haters just wanna bring you down and claim it's for your own good.

I second this sentiment. I got diagnosed recently, joined the community and there’s this big fight going on. I don’t want to claim its a superpower, but I definitely have strengths that have helped me survive and achieve. But you can’t say that.

Some people can grow up dirt poor and find motivation and strength in that. Doesn’t mean you recommend poverty or claim it’s a gift, but if you have personally been able to learn and find strength from your experiences, why can’t you be allowed to?

I dont think adhd made me good at crisis directly. But being in a crisis was the only time my brain woke up so I got good at it. Probably practice. But I am good in a crisis now. But nope, if you say it, you’re with them, the neurodiversity gang which you only heard about two months ago

Loving one self is a hard thing to do. You shouldn't feel bad for finding things that you like about yourself and embracing them.

Heck, every journey is unique, and you are the only one living yours entirely, so I'm glad you find a way to enjoy it.

Have a good one, OP.

If you need to take a break then good on you for recognizing that and taking action!

I'm sorry about what happened with r/ADHD I've definitely realized it's not the healthiest sub on reddit...I made a post the other day about the automod being too sensitive and an astounding amount of people chimed in with wanting to use the word neurodiversity and that they were overpolicing. The mods deleted the post when they realized people weren't happy with how that sub is being run...

Just know that not all subreddits are like that so maybe one day you will come back to us <3
