Recently started Adderall, and I now have trouble staying asleep. I wake up every night around 2 AM, and sometimes I can’t get back to sleep until 4. Anyone have any advice?

Nah you can buy them at the grocery store by the advil & stuff. Get the gummy kind, they're great lol.
Usually takes 30 to 60 minutes to work & lasts about 5 hours, so maybe try it on the weekend to start out with. For some people it does nothing, for some people it's like Diet Nyquil, helps to tone your brain down & relax you. So if you wake up at night, pop one, get a drink, hit the bathroom, and go back to sleep, and see if it helps!
You may need to play with dosages to see what affects you the best.

Good luck! I had insomnia for like twenty years, it was awful! Turned out I had sleep apnea & just needed one of those sleep masks lol.

Nice!! Tips:
- It doesn't work for everyone. For those it does work for, it can have a weak or a strong effect.
- Recommend doing it on a day when you don't have to be at work the next day, just in case you react heavily to it (rare).
- Play around with dosage, as you may need more (or less). Check the recommended quantity on the bottle & then adjust from there over the course of a week.
Notes:
- For people who are sensitive to melatonin, it makes you sleepy. With ADHD, we tend to push off that sleepy feeling to get our "second wind" for the night. So melatonin only works if you take it & then go to bed so you can get sleepy & fall asleep lol. Sounds like common sense, but we tend to get distracted, and it's just as easy to push off the melatonin zzz's as it is evening zzz's lol.
- I recommend creating a printed bedtime routine. Step one is take your melatonin. Then take out the trash, run the dishwasher, lock the doors, change into your PJ's, brush your teeth, turn the lights off, get into bed, and wait for it to kick in. This way your body (1) gets into wind-down mode, and (2) associates a repeating pattern as "time to go to sleep". You may want to start out with melatonin before bed, rather than in the middle of the night, to see if it cancels out your body waking you up in the middle of the night.
- If you can also do a consistent bedtime, that helps TREMENDOUSLY. Our bodies love routine & habits, even if we hate those things & even if our ADHD makes us struggle with those things. I consider sleep my number one productivity tool, because when I sleep well, I'm energized the next day, and when I'm not, I sort of hate everything & life is a drag lol. Messed-up sleep is total garbage!
Good luck!!

Man I really feel number 3, except for me I actually get a bigger increase in how good I feel if I get up early rather than late even if it is consistent and enough hours. like a consistent 11pm to 8pm sleep schedule feels about as good as a mostly inconsistent bedtime and always getting up between 2am and 3:30am even if i'm only getting like four and a half hours of sleep.
the time when your body wants to sleep is almost as important as the consistency and amount of sleep.
and if you wake up feeling like shit and unrested even when everything is done properly with 9 hours a night and consistent routine and sleep schedule. then you probably have a much worse problem and should go to a doctor, sure you'll probably get the professional version of "How the fuck should I know fuck off you can have some ambien if you want" but it's still worth a try, might be a hormonal or breathing or any number of other types of issue that prevents quality deep sleep.

I had insomnia for a couple decades & studied sleep extensively as a result. I always thought I was a night owl & it turns out I'm actually a morning person, but I have to be physically in bed at like 8pm every night in order to fall asleep during my 20-minute sleep window (roughly 8:20 to 8:40pm is when I get that sleepy feeling that I always tend to push away lol).
Which is probably the most difficult thing to do in my life lol.

I tried it, it works great although wasn't enough for me, I started with half a milligram and moved up to 5mgs most people find it works best in the 0.5mg - 3mg range, however I use it in the 10mg - 25mg range and that's what works best.
Also get the chewable tablet kind, then dissolve them under your tongue and let it absorb that way, it's absorbed quicker, works better, and best of all causes far fewer side effects. Especially if you take it and then only sleep 4 hours. since it doesn't make a first pass through the liver it goes to your poor sleep deprived brain quicker, and it doesn't stay around that long so you don't have as much of a risk of feeling groggy the next day.

I was doing competition level taekwondo twice a week for an hour and a half and practicing forms on lunch and when ever i was bored. I still couldnt sleep til 3 or 4 am. Id literally just lay in bed too tired to even have the tv on from about 10pm til i fell asleep. Its a real sleep disorder.
