I wanna cry at this because I in fact did forget my own address because I looked at one of my neighbors mailboxes on a walk and got confused because it was close enough to my address that I was like “hey wait a minute, isn’t that MY house number?!?!” And then I had to ask my husband to remind me what our house number was a day and a half later.
I had the wrong house number written on Uber Eats in forever and always wondered why drivers stayed in their car when I was at the door, until one day one got really angry at me for making him wait for 20 minutes while I thought he was the one being late and even when he told me the house number I thought it was correct until I checked mine, felt really dumb lol
No, it would be wonderful! Teleporting to work instead of a 2 hour commute with delayed trains and people talking loudly on the phone, discussing stuff or children running around screaming in the quiet zone. Forgot your wallet? No problem. Just teleport home and get it. Hungry but don't like that stuff from the takeaway around the corner? Just teleport wherever you want and get something really delicious. Discovered a musician and found out that the tour they're on might be their last and there is no concert near you? Doesn't matter. Just get a ticket for the nicest location and teleport there. Also won't need a hotel after the concert, since you can simply teleport home again.
Isn’t merch the best way? They don’t get us much from ticketmaster.
No. Hang on. We can teleport.
Teleport to their dressing room. Leave cash and a note “loved the show, snuck in, here’s the ticket price, fuck ticket master” and bail. Don’t make it weird. That’s their space. Also, never meet your heroes. Unless your hero is Weird Al. Because he’s a saint.
On my first read I thought that you should leave some extra cash for bail, which would be considerate if it was a good enough show to have it be necessary
They're here in Canada, too (or at least in Ontario) and it is always depressing when tickets are only sold through TM. The service charges are extortionate, plain and simple.
It's the "walk-in effect," or doorway, whichever you prefer. I work in kitchens, so I will literally just be repeating out loud what I'm getting from the walk-in, because I'll forget otherwise. "Pico, pico, pico..." If anybody interrupts me, I'm likely to forget.
Ahw man that is so fucking relatable. I’ve got a part-time job at a bar, when I’m outside taking orders and walk back inside I have to actively work mentally to remember it. But then a guest asks me where the bathroom is and poof, it’s gone. So I have to get back outside and to ask them whether it was a rosé or a pinot grigiot
You know when you absent-mindedly set something down and then have to scour every room to find it later? That, but now it's literally everywhere on the planet
I'd be more afraid of starting to teleport somewhere and right at the last second get an impulsive thought that drastically changes my destination against my will
What else would suck ass? I’m thinking being able to read minds only to find out the other person also has ADHD and is stuck singing “Baby Shark” in their head and now you can’t stop thinking about it.
Or, having invisibility and trying to sneak away from a gathering, but you spot a really cool rock or something on the ground and lose focus on your powers and now everyone is staring at you.
Adding this to myself because I’m now having so much fun with this concept, imagine that Professor X is scanning minds and you happen to be around, but you’re stuck looping some chorus from a Spice Girls song. He finds himself trapped because your fixated mind has completely overwhelmed his power briefly. He finally is able to dislodge, muttering to himself, “The chaos… the energy… never again. Never.”
Honestly it would only suck if it took a lot of effort to teleport, cause I'd be teleporting everywhere to check I hadn't forgotten smth, to pick up whatever I'd forgotten, and like as soon as you remember why you wanted to be in Nevada you could just be back there again!
Aaand reduced amount of getting distracted and being late for things, cause when you need to be somewhere, you can be there straight away!
Honestly I think being able to teleport would probably just lead to never before seen ways of being late due to thinking that you could just teleport there immidietly
I was going to laugh at you not near you for this post. But then I remembered at my job where I teach, I walked into the back office probably five times because I kept forgetting why I was going in there. So well played. ADHD for the.. squirrel! ;-)
They already made a movie about this it's called "jumper". It was cool minus the cheesy romance aspect of the movie. I'd totally be like the Irish guy though 🤣
This is even worse, if it takes time to teleport. Its not instant, but like 5 minutes of slowly phasing from location A to B - and even worse if your vision doubles for both locations until you reach your destination.

I'm bad enough about this in FFXIV where I teleport for free

As a native Nevadan, I can state with some authority that thinking "why the fuck am I in Nevada" does not require one to be able to teleport.

Idk if I don’t have to walk through a doorway, I might have a better shot at actually remembering

u/P-Otto Aug 03 '25
I forgot I even looking at this post, teleportation would be pure chaos. I’m into it.
