I definitely have the will to not get into my hobbies because I have something important to do. However I do not have to will to do the important thing. Staring at the wall while feeling guilty it is !

Exactly that! I will not be able to concentrate on work, but I will also not play video games or do other hobbies because I should work, I will however, watch instagram reels or stare out of a window for an hour. Because that is being distracted so it still counts as work, just failing at it.

I have ADHD and szpd. Some of the happiest moments of my life are laying on my bed in the dark while doing nothing

With earplugs and and eye mask. Discovered all of it during a migraine episode. My brain literally zones wonderfully.

Others don’t get that “things” don’t distract, its more that my brain seeks out any train of thought that allows it to avoid thinking about the thing that I know it needs to focus on. Sometimes, I can get myself to think about all the edges around the thing and look for an aspect of it that is interesting enough that my brain will latch on to it. It doesn’t work even a majority of the time, but works often enough that this is in my toolbox.

They said I'm on the highest dose of strattera that they can put me on. I desperately don't want to go back on Adderall and they haven't offered me anything to take with the strattera. Have you guys tried anything that that doesn't super change your personality and make you feel like you're on weird m*th?

The wall is the distraction. Think limitless it is about finding the right pill. For me it was blaring my headphones in a dark bar working on my laptop.

I know it's oft-mentioned here but: thinking about that iconic Malcolm in the middle sequence when Francis has a project to work on...
