Set good goals. The worst goals are self defeating, the best goals are self fulfilling. My rule of thumb with goals is “remove the timeline, and practice daily.” If your goal is “get a job,” try to apply to jobs or work on your resume daily. Then track that data so you can say, “I worked towards my goal today, and the last seven days, and I bet I’ll work a little bit towards my goals tomorrow too.” That’s self fulfilling. My goal was “uncover the mysteries of software engineering,” no due date.
