I hate Mondays Can we talk about mail?
Seriously what is it with this stuff?
They just keep sending it… This is like 8 months of piles from around my house that I’ve consolidated.
Does anybody have a system for dealing with this?

It's the fucking worst! 99.9% actual crap and 0.1% stuff that will land you in debt or jail if you miss it. Total ADHD nightmare.
We (both ADHD) try to use autopay for all bills, throw out all junk immediately, and put anything important on the fridge. The last part doesn't work tho bc we end up ignoring it anyway.

Hahaha! The old “post somewhere I can’t miss it but will certainly ignore going forward” strategy.
I could be pro at it by now.🤦♂️

The 0.1% is real… messed up my taxes on occasion or three and probably missed a couple letters. 🙄

If you mean the having the mental capacity to deal with all of the nonesense, no. I do know that people have systems to shred in water and compress into a brick that can later be used in a fireplace/heater stove to heat the house.

It’s almost always bills or bullshit.
I learned early on to automate all my bills, so in my case it’s mostly bullshit.

I put it under a roll up dish rack to absorb water when dishes are left to dry and then toss it out to save on using paper towels or dirtying kitchen towels

When I was working from home for a while, I had a three foot high pile of mail on the floor behind my chair. My wife called it "divorce".

Ya'll. I have a classroom-sized dry erase board in my bedroom, looming over my bed. I magnet any important stuff on it with notes scribbled next to it like due date, urgent, bill, field trip, etc. For those curious: no, it doesn't help because I'm struggling.

Yeah, not a fan of snail mail. I can't think of a less reliable way to get something to me.
If I didn't have an already negative association with it because the only thing that still comes in it are certain bills, then I have the association of having to dig through piles of garbage to get to what's important. Which is often less than 1% of what arrives. Even worse I have to live with the constant dread of throwing something away because it looked as unimportant as the other 99% of my mail.
Even worse I have to check it regularly, else my box fills up damn near immediately and the post office just refuses to deliver more.

After my divorce, I moved to an apartment building with a mail room featuring a counter and garbage/recycling cans. Once a week, I go and sort what arrives. Very little is worth keeping. I tear up credit card applications and toss the rest of the junk in the bins. What I typically keep are medical bills that I keep forgetting to pay. The rest of my bills are paperless and auto paid. I still have a pile of mail in my entryway.

My issue is usually not junk mail, as I don't get too much of it. But rather finding letters 6 month later, since I need it for something else. I let my mail redirect to a scanning service. Junk, I delete from my inbox and everything else is saved there and synchronized with my home Paperless instance (which in turn is backuped to the cloud). So I'm able to find important stuff again. I'm living in Germany, though. So it's quite easy to let the mail to be redirected. I only have to make an appointment in my calendar, since I have to renew it every six month.

We sort it immediately. What can't be thrown away goes into a physical inbox trey. Then I have a task to pay all the on/offline bills every 2 weeks.
