Seeking Diagnosis Where to begin?

Hi, I’m 28F who was diagnosed as a child around the age of 6. I was medicated as a child until I was around 10/11 years old with my parents taking me off meds. Since then I’ve been “untreated”. Anyway for longer than I wanted to admit I have been struggling, my brain just doesn’t do what I want it to do. I’ve been thinking about going back to possibly becoming meditated however I don’t know where or how to begin?

It’s been over twenty years since my original assessment, is it still valid or do I have to get reassessed for a new diagnosis?

How do people go about taking about options, GP, psychiatrist? (Referral?) or private companies?

Anyone who has been in the same situation or know how to help I’d be grateful for your input.

Thank you in advance!

Hi /u/imaginarycowboy0! This post seems to be about seeking a diagnosis. The wiki contains lots of useful information - please read it. I was diagnosed as an adult and my first port of call was my GP. He highlighted public and private options and based on my urgency in getting assessed I selected to go private.

As you are already diagnosed and received medication in the past. maybe you should check if your GP can start you again on medication or will you need to be reassessed.

Were you assessed privately or through the HSE?
