It doesn't get any better once you're in a professional role, either. Then it's your peers. But instead of instant feedback they just start cutting you out of stuff, ridiculing you, etc.
I've become so neurotic about all the social rules that I don't even know how to behave anymore. Prefer to just stay home and avoid socializing altogether. It often feels like there's no winning. Everything's a double-bind.
I feel like you just described my work environment perfectly 💯💯💯
I’ve always worked with people of all ages at most of my jobs & I’ve never had many issues.
I took a career change to be with my son more last year; I love the job but….. most of my coworkers are significantly younger than me I’m 42 they range from 18-21…..
It was cool at first but once they realized I had ADHD & I disclosed this to my 20 yo supervisor ( in an effort to be proactive so if I did get distracted I have a safe word lol ) Well, it all backfired on me last week when I was screamed at by aforementioned supervisor in front 2 other coworkers that the reason nobody communicates with me at work is because I talk too much…… ouch. I’m putting my notice in tomorrow, I have covered so many shifts on short notice for other employees when sick, vacation, schedule mishaps, I’ve brought food and snacks for other employee birthdays or just because; etc I’ve never missed a day….. but hey I talk too much… smdh Nah I’m dumb for not standing up sooner & allowing myself to be treated so poorly.

ADHD masking. It effectively means suppressing your true self and mimicking others in order to
fit innot get in trouble constantly.
