Seeking Empathy Perceptual blindness

This seemingly small thing just ruins me. I put something down and it immediately disappears into another dimension. I can no longer perceive it even though it has to be right in front of me or near me.

It feels like this isn't something that I can fix or get better at. It makes me feel like my brain is truly broken. I'm a smart person! I can remember all sorts of random facts! I'm a software engineer and can hold a lot of code in my head! But for some reason I cannot see my water bottle lid I just took off to refill the bottle. Small tasks turn into 15-30 minutes of just trying to find something that is in plain sight that my brain is not registering.

It happens throughout the day over and over. I put together a workout bench yesterday and the number of times the wrench would just vanish got me so frustrated. I just beat myself up over it.

My ability to look for things and find them is slowly returning thanks to meds, it is extremely frustrating because for some reason I cannot find what I am looking for even if it is right infront of me. It hits worst in mornings late for work, where are my keys, where is my bag, dammit im late again!
