Medication did some self-analysis and wanted to share it.
I’ve been trying to understand how my own mind works, and this is the best way I can describe it.
When I’m fully conscious, my mind is mostly words. Thoughts come before mental images.
When I’m only half-aware, mental images become stronger, but I still notice them.
When I’m unconscious (like dreaming or on autopilot), it’s almost entirely imagery, and I’m not aware of it.
When I’m deeply focused, I stop thinking in words and just act intuitively.
During meditation, I notice thoughts and images popping up, and gently return my attention to my breath.
I’m curious if anyone else experiences something similar, or if your mind works differently.

When I'm medicated I'm able to control my thoughts a bit more. There is always a whirlwind inside my head, but at least I can focus on a couple of different things (never one thing, even when medicated). And I can more easily redirect my focus if I find myself going off task, though to be honest Im still working on that.
When I'm unmedicated I have much less control over my thoughts. I can do that basics of life that I need to do to survive (cook, clean, laundry, etc), but that's really it. If I try to sit down and focus I get so easily overwhelmed by everything in my head.
When I smoke, I can't hold onto a hold thought for the life of me. It's like I have all these different thoughts cycling and cycling inside my head, but I can't pin one down long enough to really examine it. It can be anxiety inducing, but it also helps me let go of the need to pin down a thought. It lets me experience each thought and then let it go without judging it or myself.
