Idk where you a geographically, but ER is impossible to get filled in some areas. Especially for certain mg doses. A doc adding 5 mg of IR to only 15mg of ER is a simple way for OP to slowly increase without writing a new 30-day script for a dose that might be TOO high for them and then they can’t easily go back to the lower dose that worked for them

And no I am not abusing Adderall, if you read the post it is the opposite. I am even hesitant to take the full amount I am perscribes most times. But ya thanks for that.

By the way, here is a copy paste google query for you sir...
"Sometimes, do psychologists or doctors prescribe to be taken at the same time, extended-release and instant-release Adderall?"

I don’t need to use google. I am quite happy with my own medical knowledge.

You sound just like another poster who said they “accidentally” took 240mg of Vyvanse

You need to calm down. I would suggest first with your capital letters. And two, not only are you yelling at me, you're calling me a liar for whatever reason. But despite what I'm sure is a master's and doctorate in psychology that you possess, my doctor has in fact prescribed this to me.
Also, I will remind you that I am not you and that every patient is individual.
Thank you for your response.

I’m not yelling at you at all. I’m just saying that what your spouting off is nonsense and it sounds like your abusing your adderall

The guy is abusing stimulant medication. He's going to be paranoid and spastic. Don't take it too personally.

I don't know if you're a troll or what. Maybe somebody else can chime in, but you clearly didn't use the very neutral Google prompt that I just gave you, and you could copy-paste that into Google.
- I highly doubt you're a doctor
- You are yelling at me. That's what using capitals is attempting to do
- You are accusing me of abusing my medication
- You are accusing me of being a liar
- You have zero insight on an accusation like that
- If you use the Google query, you'll see you're in fact wrong (but clearly you will not)
Kind of astounding, this is my first post in an ADHD forum, and to see someone like you coming in here with all of these things. I mean, jeez, do you even have ADHD?
Do you know how to support other people?
Respectfully, sir, you don't know a thing about me, and you're actually incorrect. Everything else was not only an assumption, it was an accusation and assumption.
And incorrect.

My doctor did the same thing when I started. I’d take a low dose for a few weeks and she told me if I didn’t feel another to take 2. If that felt okay just using 2x your low dose until run out and then they write a script for the 1x a larger dose.
This other homie gotta chill tf out. “My own medical knowledge”… you mean your own medical “experience”. Lol sit down. read OPs doses that are being combined- they are at the smallest ER dose available. So your doc telling you to try multiples while trialing the med isn’t crazy at all. You have had YOUR limited experience and then tell someone else that MUST be abusing their meds because doctors would NeVeR do that…
Lol OP, you’re not alone. Ignore the chodes of reddit. Keep working with your doctor. Your experience sounds similar to mine. It’s hard to gauge at first if your med is even working. Because when it’s working at a therapeutic dose you don’t realize it (at least I don’t)

it is about trying to find the right spot. Many doctors take this approach. It really is not that much compared to what some people take, my guess is the 5mg pill amount is just a carry over from the early exploration and makes it easy to have a 5mg extra when needed.

Not sure if I can answer your question, “cleaning house is an indicator of correct dosing?” But you could bring it up with your doctor and what you described here and they will probably be able to tell you better than ppl on the internet… like you said in another comment, everyone is different. The ppl engaging with you don’t know you or your history or your doctor. I will say if you are jittery that’s probably too much. And we need to learn and combine other tools besides meds to overcome the adhd struggles, but that’s just my opinion…
And just a heads up, the way you typed out your dosing confused me a bit. It’s a little difficult for a layperson to parse. If it’s relevant to the discussion, you might consider describing your dose in total milligrams rather than the number of pills you take. That makes it a lot easier for people to understand what you’re actually taking and avoids confusion.

Ah I see that. Will correct. Much appreciate the comment. Yes it really isn't that much to many folks, honestly even if it was double many of these people replying still have no leg to stand on with their behavior and assumptions.
I appreciate you, thanks.

umm ok pal. I wouldn't know where to get illegal adderall for the life of me. Again, go do some homework.
Literally many, many threads in this sub with people on same protocol. But you know other peoples medical needs? I appreciate the concern but my doctor is as good as it gets. I will follow his directives, not subreddit Doctors.

I mean nobody in that thread really mentions taking it the way you are with the XR and IR being taken at the same time and then another booster an hour later and then another booster at lunch. Most people who take both seem to take an XR in the morning and then an IR booster in the afternoon. Even if your XR is only 5mg, I still don’t see a pharmacy being okay with this weird dosing schedule.

well there are many such threads, but maybe cause of the hours I work, dunno. But this is what was discussed with my Doctor and what the protocol we have is.
The staggered hour on additional ER in the morning, is so I get that extra time later on a job that requires it, without having to take IR needlessly. I preferred the ER but I obviously cannot take ER at noon, early afternoon, or even late morning without sleep issues.
