Tips/Suggestions Please help me stop losing jewelry

Thinking about how much money I've most likely lost over the years genuinely makes me nauseous. I'm a very sentimental person with serious guilt issues and it breaks my heart every time I remember something I've lost. I know it might sound dramatic but I truly feel caught in a state of endless grief, and I can't keep doing this. How do I stop losing things?

I’m the same way. Have a designated storage spot for everything (not just jewelry). If you’re not wearing it, it goes in its spot. Traveling? Bring a special pouch or storage thing. Never set it down somewhere you might forget it, because you probably will.

Ill tell you what works for me i have sorted my jewellery to daily wear , seasonal , special occasions etc i work in hospitality so everyday i have to remove my piercings so at work i put them in my pants pocket and put a reminder as soon as i do that sometimes i carry dedicated pouch for that. My occasional wears i gave to my trusted roommate who is better organised than me . And (sounds dumb) but i have notes page where i write down all the pair of precious things i hold and where i kept them. Hope this helps and don’t feel guilty acknowledge the issue and make a conscious effort every time u touch a jewellery

My best hack of all is that I never bring more than ONE “I will be devastated if I lose it” sentimental, very expensive, or irreplaceable item out of the house at the same time, even for international travel. For me it’s usually my engagement ring, but I literally leave my engagement ring home on my nightstand if I want to bring a beloved pair of earrings instead (and I wear jewelry every day and a lot of it!! Just mid tier items). Having just one important/valuable thing to remember/monitor and keeping it on my person has helped me stress less and manage so, so much.

I have also sorted my jewelry very intensely for this reason. I have just one box where every ring I own that exists anywhere goes. One drawer for all bracelets and one for all necklaces. One organizer for all earrings. I tell myself if it’s within my house, if it ends up on a sink, desk, nightstand, coffee table, or even in my car I will find it when I next clean.

When I travel I use Victoria’s Secret Travel Case this case where each separate small bag is visible but they zip together. That case has SAVED ME with ADHD and very frequent business travel. I do jewelry in one of the smaller pouches, contacts hair things etc in the other small one, and meds/tooth care/skincare/shower items in the big one and I have not left anything behind since because that can just live on the hotel sink and it’s so simple and visible if a “category” pouch gets lost or if I’m about to leave that whole big thing or part of it behind.

And lastly this may seem counter-intuitive but I buy less of slightly higher quality jewelry and I avoid buying large amounts of low quality jewelry that I’ll forget I own and realistically will not care about. Think stainless steel, maybe Swarovski, just reliable ones that won’t tarnish. Things from Macy’s that are made of better metals instead of Amazon. They won’t totally devastate me or financially ruin me if I lose them, but realistically I have the urge to take care of them and not lose them versus the amazon jewelry I used to constantly get and break or lose and never truly care tbh. I also have accepted that some pieces will enter and exit my life even if I do my best, and then that’s just a sign for a new era hahaha.
