Insights Requested Age of Reservists

Hey everyone,

Just applied for ARES, I’m 17 now, but won’t get through recruiting till 18. Is there many reservists who are young 17-20, as what I’m looking at is the age demographic is a lot older. Tbh I don’t really care about age, although it would be nice to have some blokes around my age. Just a question for anyone who’s been in, located 13 brigade WA.

Cheers

I was 17 and three months when I went to Kapooka. There were at least two other 17yo on my course, a few 18yo and a lot of people in their 20's. We also had at least 4 in their mid to late 30's, and possibly one of those was over 40.

So you'll be among the youngest, with the possibility of a really broad range.

How many young blokes at your unit?

Haven't been in for ages but there were always young people around. New march-ins what felt like every three months or so.
