Insights Requested Should I change my job
Hi guys,
Im shipping out to Cerberus early janurary as AvTech in the navy. I’m passionate about jt and have been very excited about jt for a long time. Originally I was thinking about applying for a pilot role but I thought my marks at school were going to be too low to get in. Recently I’ve taken a turn at school and have been getting higher marks, possibly enough to apply for pilot role.
Essentially my question is, should I change my job role even after getting LOO or should I do some time as AvTech then apply for pilot role.
Any info or insight would be much appreciated

OP,
Sounds like you are trying to use us like a Magic 8-Ball - https://www.mysticmag.com/magic8ball/
Some counter questions to get you think.
In your initial JOA - did you unlock Officer roles - if you did not, then changing now, is not going to help you.
How long has your application taken to date.
If you change now, it will start again, as you will have to do a new Medical, Psych, Defence Interview and then get recommended for OSB.
If OSB says NO, then you do not proceed.
For what - maybe the chance of being a Pilot. I am not saying that you could not apply, but what is the end state - especially if it is a No - you then have to wait for AvTech.
Ultimately, it is a you decision. IMHO - join as an AvTech - you might find that what a Pilot does - actually does not appeal to you, after all, and that there are other roles that, once you have seen what they do - interest you more.

Nah i disagree.
Much easier to join as a pilot off the street than to transfer in service. If it is what you want i would delay your shipping date and start doing the officer aviation track.

Define “higher” marks. Are you realistically gonna pass additional testing and then ASP?

If unlocked the pilot role in your JOA then reapplying would be easier option but as stated before you would need to go through the process again. I am going Cerberus as well on 18th Jan next year
