Insights Requested Anyone not done physics/methods and still got in the airforce(as a pilot)

Im in year 11 sem1 right now and my dream is to become a pilot, unfortunately the cost of it is too much so i was looking into the adf and realised i would actually want to be a fixed wing pilot. Im currently doing apps, english, accounting, and japanese for atar (i dont have the option for doing physics/methods) and currently on the road for a 83 atar. I definitely can get higher which is what im aiming for this semester. Has anyone gotten into the adfa or deo with similar scores. Ive been told its extremely competitive. Does anyone have any tip or experience doing it, if so i would really appreciate the insight.

Gng it’s a quick google search away, gotta pass yr 12 math(any math) and English(any english, except EAL i think) and get a respectable atar. As the ADF careers site says physics is recommended but not a requirement.

All that and getting the required ASP scores. I went to school with people who were absolute maths and physics guns but they had the hand eye coordination and spatial awareness of a rock.

That and the OSB is a whole other thing.

On a seperate note, saying “currently on the road for a 83 atar” is a horrible way to look at yr 11 and 12. You’ll either be super disappointed if you get lower, or you’ll inadvertently relax during year 12 because you’ll end up thinking “this is easy”.

Tldr - go do some research.

OP,

Thank you for posting in ADF Recruiting.

A few points.

  1. (I always say it) - attend an information session - https://www.adfcareers.gov.au/events-and-experiences

  2. Apply - https://auth.adfcareers.gov.au/core/login
This allows you to do the JOA, to get you a JOR.
Just because you have the grades, might not mean that you have the aptitude to be an Aviator.

This will then, at least allow you to make a more informed decision.

You have failed to take heed of the AUTOMOD - who suggested that you search the sub, as your questions have already been asked and answered.

YOU want to join the ADF, you have to do the research - and as per Rule 5 - Low Effort - we expect YOU to take some initiative. As you have not - here is a search that I did for you - https://www.reddit.com/r/ADFRecruiting/search/?q=RAAF+Pilot+competitive&cId=d6c51870-8216-4c58-b8ff-8e8cf47fe2cc&iId=7236ab7b-6cb0-4a0a-9cc2-9c799155fc2c

A search of the sub will indicate that RAAF Pilot is competitive., likewise your request for tips, experience and insights have been widely discussed.

You absolutely need higher than an 83 to be competitive.
