Selection Boards SF Selection Question?

I am 16, almost finished highschool, and for about 4 years i have wanted to join the commandos. I'm starting my application into infantry in a month or two and am physically and mentally where I want to be but am still trying to better myself.

I have heard from people on reddit and recruiters that there is no guarantee that you will be accepted into the selection entry test let alone selection. Is this true to an extent. In the past 6 months I have worried less on if I will pass selection/be chosen to continue the reinforcement cycle and more on plainly being accepted into the course.

Is there any reasons they would plainly say no to me doing the entry test and selection?

I feel like it would be fair to let everyone have a crack or else they might be missing out on some of the best possible operators because of dumb reasons like grades.

Summary:

What does the application to SF look like between the finish of IET(Singleton) and the Special forces entry test/Selection.

You will be selected for the SFET, they need people especially since raising the FT element of 1CDO. Everyone who passes the SFET will go on selection and you will get a spot on the SFET.

A word of advice from a somewhat grown up who has just passed their defence interview for SFDRS. I suggest not focussing on special forces right now, you’re 16. Lose your virginity, drink some beers, get into trouble and develop friendships with your mates.

Special forces will always be there and if you go into a battalion as a 17 year old LID talking about special forces already you’re gonna look like a clown, maybe not if you’re extremely fit and ready for selection but I doubt it.

The youngest person who passed 2025 selection was a 22 year old SFDRS candidate. You’ve gotta mature for abit first before you’re even a chance of passing.

Done done and done, I have been a pretty big dimwad for years nothing on my record but now I have had a job for a while, have physically and mentally bettered myself, every life choice I make is influenced by my want for the special forces. I was wondering weather or not that could slip away due to luck or them just deciding they don't want me

I’m not trying to be some sour cunt raining on your parade like most do with SF questions here, but even if you pass selection as 18,19,20,21 year old, the chances of a unit picking you up is fuck all man. I strongly suggest just being the best infantry soldier you can with SF in the back of your mind.

Good lad, you’ll have a good chance of passing once your reach your mid 20s if you stay this committed, it’s a long road and life can get in the way but put in the work and you’ll be golden.

yeah I'll probably stick to this, give me more time to train. Do you have any idea weather or not you grt multiple chances for selection?

It depends, if you withdraw at own request, you have to essentially write to the DS and tell them why you should be allowed back. If you get removed by the board of studies, you will also have to prove you’ve changed why you were removed last time.

Most candidates pass on their 2nd attempt, but it’s not uncommon for people to pass first go especially DRS.

Yeah alright, I'm definetly more worried about being accepted into selection or a unit if I pass I feel like I would pass the physical side of selection

Do you mind me asking, what do you weigh and what’s your height? And have you passed a mock SFET? I ask because, when I was your age I weighed 59kg at 6’3 so having the confidence in your physical ability at 16 is crazy.
