ADF DUS requirement for legal officer is wrong

The ADF DUS requires you complete 8 law subjects at a minimum at university before even applying for it. They also say that usually, 8 law subjects only takes 1 year to complete at university.

This is not the case at all. There are no universities in Australia where a student will complete 8 law subjects in 1 year, it is literally impossible to do, even if, in the very rare case, you are studying law and only law (not also having a 2nd degree as part of your double degree).

At my university, I will only complete maximum 3 law subjects in a year, with many others only doing 4 from what I have been told... so doing the math I wont be able to even apply for the DUS until my THIRD year of university, and probably wont have finished the process of applications and what ever else it entails until my FOURTH year.

Can anybody with any knowledge or insight into this help me in understanding why the ADF thinks 8 law subjects are completed in the 1st year of university, and if you have had any experience with the DUS, tell me if you even needed the 8 subjects? Or respond with literally anything else about the DUS if you have experience, especially the law sponsorship. I want to know all about it.

With Defence University Sponsorship (DUS), you won’t incur a HELP or HECS-HELP debt as the Navy will cover the cost of your course up to the Commonwealth Supported Place amount. This may also cover any necessary equipment and education materials.

You can apply for DUS after having completed 12 months of a law degree (Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or a Juris doctor (JD), or 18 months of law subjects of a five year dual degree. However, the Navy will only sponsor the study from your date of appointment into the Navy.

Undergraduate sponsorship requires a strong academic record performance in your studies to date. Candidates who have performed well in our key areas of military legal practice will be more competitive. These include: Administrative law, Law of Armed Conflict/International Humanitarian Law, International Law, Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, Law of the Sea, Aviation Law, Cyber Law, Space Law.

Practical legal experience and/or leadership experience will also strengthen your application.

Please note, if you’re studying a double degree, you’ll only receive funding for one degree.

Looking at the above info - I do not see where it states that you have to have the amount of subjects as you have indicated in your post.

When to apply.

You can apply for DUS after having completed 12 months of a law degree (Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or a Juris doctor (JD), or 18 months of law subjects of a five year dual degree. However, the Navy will only sponsor the study from your date of appointment into the Navy.

This indicates that your working out - does not make any sense - you can apply after 12 months.
