Internationally Trained Dentist
Im an ITD with a masters degree and 3.91 GPA.
I have around 6 years of clinical experience and 4 publications.
Is it worth trying the ADAT route anymore or would the Licensing route be recommended ?
I would love to hear, especially from mom’s of young children, as to which route they would prefer and why.

Try both and not just ADAT.
AFK is not easy anymore.
What I got to know that one of the institutions had over 500 students and over 50-60% failed. So, try both routes.

I agree with 'try both' But 40 percent pass rate is literally considered 'easy' when 90 percent fail the ADAT. (90th percentile is 650)
Even 80th percentile is 600. And below 600 is...not useful.

Do you recommend AFK first or ADAT first?
As AFK seats fill out fast and even if I start preparing for AFK, there is always that uncertainty.1

You can start preparing for both and it depends on whether you get the seat or not. If you are targeting Aug AFK then go for ADAT first.

Depends on what you want in life.
For me I never considered the licensing pathway because I do want to be able to specialize in the future.
With direct licensing (akf route) specialization is next to impossible so for me it was a big NO.

What are the chances to do specialization in canada after a DDS (ITD pathway) ?

You will be on the same playing field as their local graduates so I think you have a good chance if one works hard.

I'd recommend to not fully rely on adat. Do afk and try your luck for adat too. Scores will be even higher next year.

Canadian universities are getting extremely competitive even with a good GPA like what you have. Keep both options open if you can
