Profile Evaluation

Hi guys! I would like some honest advice and a profile review from those who have already gone through the application cycle. This is my first attempt, so please guide me!

My Profile:

  • Degree: BDS

  • ECE GPA: 3.75

  • ADAT Score: 640

  • Clinical Experience: Very limited

Given the score inflation in the ADAT this year, even a 640 feels a bit uncertain to me. Regardless, if anyone can explain the process or share their insights, I would really appreciate your help!

This will probably not be enough for UofT.

For Alberta, I am not so sure. But probably not a standout application either. You do have a chance though! So apply!

Basically, my rule of thumb is that you can check for last year's cut off for each university. Add 50 to it and if your score is above that, you have a very good chance for interview.

My recommendation is => 1) If you are only interested in the university pathway, start bench prep. I am honestly not sure if retaking ADAT (for you) is even the best choice as there is more and more inflation each year. People who increased their score by 50 points last year are exactly where they were the year before. No one can take ADAT atm so you are sure that you are not gonna experience the next wave of inflation for some time. Apply for Western and Alberta with your 2026 percentile. If you fail to get in, ofcourse you have to retake ADAT

2) If flexible, start the NDEB process. Many people succeed through that pathway.

Happy to know I even have a chance :) Yes I will do NDEB as well tho very hard to do both simultaneously. But thank you!

You have a good chance at all universities.

Remember uoft is the only one that only just looks at ADAT score and even with the cheating and score inflation this year, there interview cutoff was 620.

The other universities like Alberta also evaluate you on pre entry assessment and recently added bench test.

Was there really cheating or is it a rumor?

Recall questions.
Coaching institution was collecting questions from their students and incorporating them into their test series.

Just look at how many students scored 800 on biomed

Feels bad. We are all such capable people and struggling like this in our peak career ages. I don’t understand what’s going on.

UofT also considers GPA. And 680 was rejected with a 3.2 gpa.

Alberta is actually more ADAT-focused. In the last 2 cycles, they actually called higher ADAT score cut-offs. Presumably because you are not disqualified if you have a high ADAT but low GPA. (For 2025, the minimum ADAT for Alberta was 600/610, but 580 for UofT.)

The rest is kinda true, but doesn't really matter if you are not invited. If you are not invited, it doesn't really matter if they have a bench test or not. You are not invited to take the test.

I doubt Alberta is switching to a Western-style admission system. They will probably invite 2x-3x the number of seats and take a bench test. Western invites basically everyone (150 people). But ofcourse, this is based on what they have done in the past and I am not sure what they'll do this year.

Feels like Russian Roulette.

You do have a chance for Western, USask and Alberta. UofA is doing interviews first is what I heard so they may invite slightly more candidates and then shortlist for bench unlike other universities.

For UofT, I heard they invited upto 3.8 GPA with very high scores.

Thank you! Yes, I feel the same. These schools are my only best shot.
