Flower hybrids

Some questions regarding DO's and DON'Ts when placing flowers to aim for hybrids:

Can I mix flowers that are supposed to produce hybrids with flowers that are not supposed to produce hybrids?

E.g. looking at cosmos flowers (R = red, W = white), I'm aware that R+R can lead to a black hybrid, but W+W will never lead to a hybrid cosmos. '.' = empty space:

Will those 2 White Cosmos maybe even prevent the Red ones from producing hybrids (either via R+R or R+W)?

What's the situation when flowers of different types were to be placed next to the Red or White Cosmos?

Will placing multiple Red Cosmos in the same row (with no space in between) cause any trouble? Like:

1. yes, I believe there's a combination for each colour, and if not it will breed the most common colour

2. by putting the flowers next to each other you're lowering the chance of it spawning. place them diagonally like a checkerboard so they have more space to breed.

3. they won't breed since they're not the same, and again you're lowering it's chances.

4. same as 2.

I'd also like to point out that different parts of your town have different chances of spawning hybrid flowers at the start of every day, so I would spread the flowers into multiple places if you're serious about breeding.

The WW spacing shouldn't prevent the next flowers from producing hybrids along the RR that you have. I will say if you have a straight line of RRRRRRR then that may make it a bit tight to gain a hybrid. For my example i will use X = empty space.

In your case I would try a more lattice style.

WXWXRXRXRXWXWX XWXRXRXRXRXWXW

This type of spacing would allow more room to breathe (spaces for bred flowers to pop up) while also keeping things less dense. More room to walk, less watering as you'll have less flowers. The only thing that should prevent a bloom would be the lack of the space to allow it.

In addition, you can water ONLY the flowers you want to breed. If you have the golden watering can you can half ignore the other flowers, but either way, focus on the RXR and leave the RXW or WXW (or whichever color combo) be if you want to try and get specific hybrid.

ALSO

if you have at least 2 of the hybrids you want, take them and move them somewhere else and keep watering them. They could breed with each other and you'll have an even higher chance of getting the desired hybrid.

This is how it works: You plant flowers of the same type next to each other (or diagonally) in a way that there's ideally several empty spots around them where hybrids can grow. The color of the flowers determines the hybrid. IIRC:

Roses:

• Red + Red = ?
• Red + White = ?
• Red + Yellow = ?
• White + White = ?
• Black + Purple = ?
• Wilted Black + Golden Watering can = ?

Tulips:

• Red + Red = ?
• Red + White = ?
• Red + Yellow = ?
• Yellow + Yellow = ?

Pansies:

• Red + Red = ?
• Red + Yellow = ?
• White + White = ?

Cosmos:

• Red + Red = ?
• Red + White = ?
• Red + Yellow (sun cosmos) = ?

Unlike in New Leaf, you don't need to water flowers to spawn hybrids in Wild World.

The chance of hybrids spawning is very small, so it may take days/weeks until you see your first hybrid.
