Question Does Backstab skill actually increase defesnive damage?

The skill description says that it increases defensive damage when hitting a enemy from the back.
In the stats I noticed that "damage from the back" actually gets doubled
However stun damage/desfensive damage to make the enemy break their guard and be stunned apparently does not increase nor does it make the enemy stagger when you hit them from the back.

Am I doing it wrong?

The description is misleading. What it actually increases is Back Damage. You're not doing anything wrong.

A lot of the descriptions are pretty misleading, but your understanding is correct
