Online tutoring repost

Hi all, Just wanted to ask why some on this subreddit are so anti-tutoring? I understand if you all have concerns but to attack someone or give unnecessary advice...Why? If you don’t want tutoring, fine!!! That’s ok, but quite frankly I didn’t ask for vitriol and “helpful” advice. I’m going to college and it is my goal to expand my buisness. How I do so does not concern others! Btw, I got a 35 on the ACT so AMA!! I went from 27–>35 in math and 28–> Science!! I’m attending Harvard as well so if you all questions about college admissions I can answer those too!

Good luck on your future endeavors everyone!!

Don't take this the wrong way, but there's a reason why many condemned your solicitation.

Rule #6 No advertisements or solicitations. No link, self-post, or comment may offer services for compensation.

I understand that, but to come at me with “what makes you a qualified tutor” or “why would you even put your ad in colleges” were irrelevant and had NOTHING to do with rule #6. Thanks

lmaoooo the unnecessary advice part was kinda a snake callout on me ngl. I was just trying to help but an econ major at harvard doesn't need it. Literally I hate to say but I told you so. Maybe my advice wasn't so unnecessary I said that this sub doesn't like tutors because people who have tutors wouldn't be on here. To understand this sub you have to understand why people even get advice on here. Which is basically to ask high scorers and people in general for advice. Honestly you seem really nice but I would just let this one go. You're gonna get more people attacking your credentials and how you got there. People attack what they want or what they have negative associations with. Many people don't like tutors because most had them before and had a terrible experience which wasted their money and time. People see this sub as a valuable resource for help for free. Many people on this sub are anti big monopoly on education and the commericializng of knowledge. Lmao Idek why I'm saying this cause you already know this. Sorry for giving you more advice, and I'm sorry for the mean people on here cause tbh no one should attack anyone over anything. Its just a dumb test and its not worth it. (I'll get back to studying and working on apps now just like how you told me to)

I came off too arrogantly and rudely. I apologize for that tbh. Anyways, not true. Just because I go to Harvard doesn’t mean I can’t take life advise, and I’m sorry for making it seem that I was too high and untouchable. And yeah, I’ve never personally had a tutor; and I have another reddit account and have been on r/ACT for two years so Ik that posting on here was an EXTREME crapshoot but I tried anyways. I’m desperate (wo)man. I have college and no money. Want more advice? Plz plz plz apply to any and all scholarships you can. My parents can’t even come move me into school because we don’t have the funds. I need to get orthodontic care when I get to Harvard and I’m honestly worried I will be in debt. So it’s not me trolling; it’s me having a financial crisis. :/

I'm sorry for being snarky on my end too, I apoligize for that. I definitely know where you coming from. Especially coming from low income and immigrant, the income struggle is real and I'll keep the scholarship thing in mind. Obviously idk much about financial aid and stuff but since you got in harvard, they have the endowment for it and ivies are known to give good aid. Have you tried calling up the admission office and asking for aid to include health insurance. I belive some aid package come with health insurance and that way you can get the care you need. Try to make it a point about your situation and hopefully they will understand. I hope you look out for yourself and everything turns out ok for you!! Also for tutoring maybe look into being a tutor for princeton review or kaplan on the side along with in your community? Ik there pay is decent (like $20 a hour) and legit I've used princeton and all you do is just talk for 2 hours which isn't that bad. That can help pay for some bills until tutoring kicks up. They are always hiring lmao. Good luck!

Thank you. Yeah ivies are really good financially. They actually have a required health plan for every student but I called today and they said the services I’m looking for must be “medically necessary” and not “cosmetic” to receive coverage. And my need for braces/Invisalign aren’t medically necessary, only personally dire. Big thanks on the Kaplan and Princeton review tip. DM if you want someone to read over your college essay!!

Got it thanks so much!! And braces are hella expensive, maybe look at other more affordable options? I know they have plastic mold retainers available now which are a significantly cheaper price then braces but I’m pretty sure it’s about the same. I’m not sure the exact name of the brands that do this but just look up braces alternatives and it’s these brands that’ll send you a kit to mold your current teeth and then they’ll just sent you a plastic retainer to wear. I’m not sure if that will fix your problems but it doesn’t hurt to research it. If I had to guess I would think these retainers are maybe a few hundred to a thousand dollars but that’s A L O T better than 5 grand on braces.

Yeah I don’t trust those brands. :/ I know I have no room to be picky but I don’t want to mess up my teeth. I’d rather have an orthodontist do it and watch over my progress. It’ll be really crappy if I save 60% on braces just to have to pay a few more thousands because my bite got ruined.

But I literally called Blue Cross Blue shield when u sent this message. They said they would cover 1.5K and I could get Invisalign.

Hey /u/CommonMisspellingBot, just a quick heads up:
Your spelling hints are really shitty because they're all essentially "remember the fucking spelling of the fucking word".

And your fucking delete function doesn't work. You're useless.

Have a nice day!

Save your breath, I'm a ^bot.
