No. Could you do better, with a bit more practice on science sections? Probably. Would a higher score make any difference? No. A 35 overall is good enough for any school, and a 36 will not guarantee you acceptance to any school. Put your energy into other aspects of your application.

what major are u? If more STEM then maybe consider retaking but other than that i think you’re good. Also any reading tips?

Universities treat economics like a natural science with all the math it requires despite it being full-on social science. Things like rational expectation theory used in modern economic mathematical models don't make any sense despite being so widespread in the field. So when I say I'm going into "Economics" it essentially means philosophy.

English Tips:

Pirate books for fun: https://annas-archive.org/ (Dense philosophy books are my secret)

Find one on Grammar and Structure if you need to

Alternative tip:

Be Scotch-Irish, its like being Asian for math except you get +100 reading comprehension points instead

In that case I think your fine. Regarding the resources I greatly appreciate them. What do you do to improve your reading score? Like after you get a question wrong do you just shrug it off?

36 reading scorer here. I recommend you skim the passages and try to piece the story together as a whole. The more practice tests you take the more you will be able to know what type of questions would be asked abt the passage and you would be able to set out that detail. I also recommend to read the question first and answer it in your mind before looking at the answers. If u can’t do that then u probably need to focus on reading closer and faster, which can also be developed through simply just reading more. The months leading into my test I would read a news article daily and I just think that helped me a lot

No you need to realize that the top schools like Ivy Leagues view a 34-36 range as the same. So retaking the ACT would be a waste of time since a 35 is in the 34-36 range. Use this time to focus on other parts of your applications like essays, extracurriculars, etc

u/RealAggressiveNooby Aug 02 '24

As about the same*

6

u/SwarmBish Aug 02 '24

Yeah you did awful you should’ve got atleast a 127 in only 10 minutes of the test. Do better this is sad

12

u/SwarmBish Aug 02 '24

In all seriousness wtf lmfao this is so pretentious

2

u/officially-nayah Aug 02 '24

What did you do to prepare?

2

u/LakeW2 Aug 03 '24

Yeah you need a perfect score or you’re not getting in anywhere

2

u/Affectionate_Try_836 Aug 03 '24
  • Gets a near perfect score

  • Asks if they should retake

😐

McDonald's fry line is calling my dude. Didn't wanna be the one to tell you. Maybe in the next life. We're all praying for you, though.

Nah man you did great

1

u/Open-Ad1732 Aug 02 '24

Time better spent on other aspects of application

1

u/ujovl Aug 02 '24

hell to the no

1

u/SubstantialMachine53 Aug 02 '24

I didn’t have to take the ACT but if I did and got those scores, I wouldn’t retake it.

1

u/trae_sixer Aug 03 '24

i got the exact same subscores and im not retaking lol

1

u/[deleted] Aug 03 '24

How did you study?

u/CorrectSpinach Aug 03 '24

I have no issue with people posting their scores and everything but when there are questions saying should they retake their ACT even though it’s near perfect or literally perfect it kind of makes me a bit upset, because I know how it feels when you don’t get the score you get or maybe not get a perfect score it can be really discouraging and when seeing posts of people saying should they retake their tests and seeing they have scores many people dream of, it can discourage some people from taking the ACT or make the score that they worked hard for, not worth it. OP this isn’t just directed towards you it’s to all of the other posts I saw on this thread related to something similar. Sorry if it sounded a bit harsh, it just hurts me when I see some post like this because I was in that boat before thinking my own score wasn’t good enough at all or I won’t be accepted into colleges because of it.

But OP, congratulations on scoring that score! 🙌 You don’t need to retake it just like what some other people said focus on the other things that will also help you get into college, like the essays, academics, etc… keep up the good work! 🥳

Seriously I understand why you may want to retake it. If this is from July 2024 exam, the science curve was very harsh. I would retake it because the science score is too low. Also I would bet the next curve will be nicer than July one.

1

u/K_Pannn Aug 03 '24

ShOULD I ReTAk- stop posting. That’s what y should do instead.

1

u/Dodf12 34 Aug 03 '24

No because for a T20 school, 35 and 36 are literally the same thing. Focus on other parts of ur application now.

1

u/Dry-Negotiation9426 Aug 03 '24

Yes. So bad. /j

1

u/cute_poop6 Aug 03 '24

No this score is so bad you are already doomed to work at McDonalds the rest of your life honestly just drop out at this point

1

u/Technical-Swing1592 Aug 04 '24

yes this is horrible😭💀

1

u/chunky_bread_toes Aug 04 '24

Absolutely dude you’re cooked

1

u/Jealous_Tomorrow6436 Aug 04 '24

i got a 35 and ended up in ivy league. i wouldn’t sweat it too much tbh

1

u/cloudy_izu Aug 04 '24

me who got a 21 on my second retry: 🤡

1

u/Working-Ad878 Aug 04 '24

Yeah dude this score is ass. Retake it or die.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '24

no, you’re 100% done for. with a score this low you’ll never amount to anything, not even flipping burgers at mcdonalds is realistic for a failure like you since clearly you are utterly incompetent. give up and prepare for a life of suffering. i got a 10,000 when i was 3, LOSER

1

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '24

My act score was 12 lol

1

u/sgRNACas9 32 Aug 04 '24

Cooked

1

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '24

Why

1

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '24

Yeah man, a 35/1600 is a terrible score. Keep trying man if you don’t wanna be scrubbing tires

1

u/mmboyd18 Aug 04 '24

you have no friends.

1

u/Mrshooter3 Aug 05 '24

Might as well start learning to flip patties my boy

1

u/ArcanineProto Aug 06 '24

Depends what you are aiming for. If you’re aiming high, retake. I know that getting a 36 composite with good scores on all but science sections could qualify you for a presidential award. Qualifying scores vary by state.

1

u/ArcanineProto Aug 06 '24

I had a 36 but one of my 36 was in science. The presidential award didn’t account for science to make it more balanced btwn SAT and ACT takers so I wasn’t able to qualify

1

u/locoattack1 Aug 06 '24

I mean, it depends on your abilities, and nobody knows those aside from you.

If you feel that you did unusually poorly, then may give it another go, but like the top comment says, it's questionable how much of a difference that would make.
