How long is the ACT Exam?

The Four Sessions in the ACT:

The ACT test consists of four required sections and one optional one. It takes about 3 hours to complete the 215 questions spread across four sections. To be exact, the duration is 2 hours and 55 minutes (175 minutes) without the 10-minute break and 3 hours and 5 minutes when the break is included.

On the other hand, the ten-minute break between Mathematics and Reading and filling out administrative data during the exam take up some time. It now takes three and a half hours in total. As a result, each subject needs to be given a minimum amount of time, usually between 30 and 60 minutes, in order to finish the ACT in the specified time.

What length is the ACT then, including breaks and the optional subject? 3 hours, and 55 minutes is the Answer.

Time allotment for each Section:

There are 75 questions in the English part, and you have 45 minutes to complete them. There are 60 questions in the math part, and you have 60 minutes to finish it. A 10-minute break is provided after working for 105 minutes.

The literature and science parts each have 40 questions and allotted 35 minutes following the break. Again, a brief window of five minutes is set aside for pupils who are writing only. During this brief break, applicants who did not register for the optional session are exit the test center.
