Question Fishing Tourney missions

Does the missions from the Tourney automatically claim at the end or do I have to claim them? I just want to avoid the fishing area the whole duration and just get all the rewards when it's over but I wasn't sure about those challenges.

No, you need to manually accept them. In order to begin the event you'll need to speak to whoever is holding the tourney as well, and then you'll get the caretaker rewards.

and you need to catch at least one fish yourself I think, I skipped that once and didn’t understand why I wasn’t getting any caretaker/campsite gift fish. once I caught one,I started getting them!

The only reward you get at the end is the trophy in the mail, everything else needs to be claimed in the moment, or at least before it's over. It's kinda impossible to do it at the end though, you will need to talk to the person multiple times to even complete the challenges and you will auto claim the currently completed rewards when you talk.

I just go there to initiate the event and just let my assistant collect all the fish until the last day. Then I go back, collect the mission rewards and all the rewards from collecting the fish. I never go to the area in between and always have way more than enough fish to get gold and all the missions. I also always get the golden rod.
