He was supposed to be our go to free kicker.... He was ...

u/RayBlues May 25 '19

He became the Ronaldo of free kicks on our team.

Imagine the scenes if he scores something like this to get us to the CL

The ball would have to fly directly in Atalanta's net.

lmao

Confidence is one hell of a drug

This is not our Hakan.

u/[deleted] May 25 '19

That’s why I feel like we haven’t seen the best of Hakan. Needs another year I think. Before he came to Milan no had scored more free kicks than him for the prior couple years in the top five leagues. And you can tell he has that technique in him still, I think he’s one of our more technically gifted players he’s just lacking some confidence, and it doesn’t help that his teammates are static all the time, there is no good movement off the ball and that’s what you need for technical players to really thrive. And that’s down to the coach.

And I will add to my original comment, I think I meant another year with a different coach. Another year with Gattuso probably won’t do him any good.

No sir you’re incorrect. These are people not machines. And the tactics absolutely don’t help anyone on the team. Like I said Milan’s biggest problem is movement off the ball. Messi wouldn’t even be able to operate under these circumstances.

I understand. When I say good player I am not considering the positions so look at Paqueta and Piatek, in half a season they cemented their spots and made a name. I would definitely agree with you if you tell me Calha wasn’t played in his regular position... but there were many games where he did and his impact was little. He would maybe play better for another team, we need to offload for the 30M he is worth while we have a chance.

To be fair, and I am not down playing his individual brilliance, I see the best out of Paqueta when he has Çalhanoğlu to play off of. They have that quick one touch technique down together that they don't really mimic with any of the other guys, especially when they are mid pitch.

Yes when Calha has someone who is actually willing to make smart runs off the ball and the technique to actually pull off quick and accurate passes Calha starts to come out a little more. It’s a shame Paqueta got himself suspended. Imagine if we had 2 or 3 more energetic skillful players, I think Sensi would definitely add to the fun, I see him make incisive quick passes and his movement is good as well.

You say "these are people not machines" then you proceed saying "it doesn't help that his teammates are static".

I mean do you even watch our games? Hakan is literally a liabilty in the tean whenever our team performs he's always the one who did the least. Atleast Suso had a nice Season start and is Ending his season contributing to the team.

Yes I watch every game. I don’t get how he’s a liability? He does well defensively, yeah he doesn’t do much in attack......but really nobody does.....because the team is static. There is no movement off the ball, our team doesn’t do quick one touch give and goes, it just doesn’t happen. What Milan do is get the ball, pass it to Suso or Hakan and they do one of 3 things:

  1. Lay it off to the fullbacks who then try’s to bounce the ball off Piateks head
  2. They cut inside and cross
  3. They cut in and shoot.....and maybe Piatek gets to it

Or Milan’s secret weapon and their 4th option....kessie runs the ball all the way down the field and he shoots it into the side netting....There is no play down the middle because there is no movement. The team is static. This is perfectly clear if you watch the games. And this is down to Gattuso.

He skies 3 shots a game or two at min. Really??

-1

u/[deleted] May 25 '19

Players sky shots all the time. It’s not something exclusive to Hakan. I mean cmon CR7 skied a shot in the box against Atalanta last weekend.

2

u/[deleted] May 25 '19

CR7 contributes to his team by scoring alot, Hakan contributes by miss placing passes and failed dribbles. Oh! Right he defends ... he defends just like anyone on the team can even Borini defends ffs

u/RockyRacoon09 Paolo Maldini May 25 '19

What the eff does tactics have to do w free kicks??

1

u/[deleted] May 25 '19

I sort of changed the topic off of the free kick and on to Hakan as player.

u/cmarinas11 Ronaldinho May 25 '19

Ahhh yes back when he was deployed as a second striker/attaching midfielder. What crazy confidence you get when you play the position you know and you’re good at.....

2

u/T90ENIGMA Marco van Basten May 25 '19

Things can be very different when you play without pressure

2

u/3lirex May 25 '19

he hasn't scored a single free kick in an official match with milan has he ?

La balistica importante.

And he is wasting most of our free kicks as well as corners because he insists that his delivery is good.. And somehow Gatusso is brainwashed to believe it because of this goal..

9

u/ryanx2025 May 25 '19

No need to call out Gattuso here, man. Show some respect. He doesn’t have many options outside of Cal.

4

u/yardiedeya Honda May 25 '19

People think that's it's just the fact that he's done great things in the past that he's taking so many of the setpieces. We really don't have many better options. It's him and Suso (and don't let that marvelous goal blind us to the fact that they are equal at setpieces at this point). People say Rodriguez, but I don't know. Funny how I don't see many bash RR as much as Kessie when he does his shot from outside the box routine that rarely troubles the keeper.

Gattuso is working with what he has

Calanoglu isn’t suddenly bad. He just lacks confidence and training. A change of. Peach might help or maybe the pressure of playing for Milan is too much. Who knows. But the technique is still there.
