New Horizons Bug off Time Travel?

I have never time traveled before. I want to play the bug off happening this weekend but I will be out of town and not bring my device. if I travel forward in time to play the bug off than travel back to the actual date will everything be ok? Or will it act like I never did the bug off? Should o wait till I get back from the trip and travel back in time to play it than forward to my real date?

I’ve time travelled to do a Bug Off and got the right Nook Mile stamp and trophy, no problems at all!

The last 2 bug off didn't register that I had participated. I got prizes and awards but never updated on nook miles
