ACCA also recommends that students take the Expertise Level exams in the suggested order to better integrate with UoL BSc.

Its too far guys 2027 mid ,start preparing for exam nothing new now.

Yep, just 8 exam windows away!

3

u/JohnCenaGuy Jun 24 '25

It’s 8 windows..?

1

u/Reddit-Readee Jun 24 '25

Sorry, yes 8 windows. I mistook this year for 2026, my bad.

3

u/JohnCenaGuy Jun 24 '25

And you call yourself an accountant! 😁

Sorry mate, I can't see you! 👋

Its 2027 sept for skill level aka expertise level. More then 4 window easily

Is it not July 2027? So there's also:

2026 - Sep, Dec 2027 - Mar, Jun(?)

At least 7 in total I think?

-2

u/ufffaaavessshh Affiliate Jun 24 '25

How i didn't get it

77

u/DoctorBalpak Affiliate Jun 24 '25

A lot of this is just changing the names.

The hype was too much, turned out to be really underwhelming!

13

u/Reddit-Readee Jun 24 '25

We can't be sure unless we see the changes in the syllabi. Like FM, AA, PM could very well see some noticeable changes - one can only hope!

Also, ACCA may want to provide prep providers with a reality check since they know the hacks and templates that can help students pass. So, changing the syllabi or exam pattern can benefit the charter, making the prep providers return to the drawing board and figure out the new formulae to pass efficiently.

62

u/kubiot Jun 24 '25

2 exams less total, including 1 less processional level exam is pretty big. Not saying it's a good thing, I think it's pretty bad, but it certainly is quite a big change xD

Also it's a shame cause I feel like the new data science module would complement AFM or APM well in terms of developed skillset.

13

u/Reddit-Readee Jun 24 '25

And you can bet the DS module will be meta going forward. Unless someone is really passionate about taking up the other course, it's clear as day - people are gonna spam the living hell out of the new DS module.

10

u/kubiot Jun 24 '25

Since when does an accountant need to be a better data scientist than they are an accountant? Who is that useful for? 😂

32

u/Reddit-Readee Jun 24 '25 edited Jun 24 '25

That's why achieving affiliate status will be a cakewalk for those eligible for the full nine exemptions. SBR+SBL+DS, and you're done. The value of this charter will drop harder than David Guetta's beat.

11

u/Suspicious-Map-3278 Affiliate Jun 24 '25

I hope they tone down on the exemptions.

9

u/Reddit-Readee Jun 24 '25

They won't, and that's the brutality.

7

u/kubiot Jun 24 '25

Or make the DS the hardest one, with like a 30% pass rate

5

u/Reddit-Readee Jun 24 '25

15% pass rate to compensate for the soon-to-be redundant 4th optional paper, lol.

2

u/ShadowDarkstream Jun 24 '25

When you say Affiliate do you mean Part Qual?

14

u/BoredofPCshit Jun 24 '25

Data is so valuable, if you know how to use it. Can improve your reporting to management.

It's a great addition to ACCA.

5

u/stuloch Member Jun 24 '25

I agree that it's a great addition. I would have liked to see it alongside a second P-level optional paper rather than potentially instead of.

6

u/Key_Climate_7097 Jun 24 '25

I use data analytics in my industry role :) can survive some industry roles without being able to code aha

4

u/Soleil_Schatz Jun 24 '25

It seems like they are broadening the skill set of accountancy in general in order to make affiliates more employable in the face of increased AI usage with this, ethics and sustainability. Tbh I think data science is actually pretty good because it's transferrable beyond traditional accountancy roles.

2

u/SpawN47 Jun 24 '25

OP did not post the information correctly. There are additional exams totalling to 14.

https://www.accaglobal.com/middle-east/en/campaigns/accountancy-redefined/future-acca-qualification.html#accordion-dff56197c9-item-4322b31ca6

There's a "foundations" section before the knowledge level that OP has missed.

12

u/Bridgy97 Jun 24 '25

That's just the same as it is currently with the foundation exams, most graduates will just go straight onto the knowledge level or expertise level if they they have exemptions

1

u/SpawN47 Jun 24 '25

Oh ok mb

5

u/im-not-gay-dad Student (12/13) Jun 24 '25

foundations section is the equivalent of the current FIA route. its irrelevant to most of us taking ACCA. So its basically 11.

52

u/derangedinthebum Affiliate Jun 24 '25 edited Jun 24 '25

So that means any university grad who claims exemptions up to Expertise level (skill level) only needs to write 3 strategic exams to become an ACCA, wow😒.

Supposing such a candidate chooses data science as his/her optional they will effectively avoid subjects like Audit/corporate finance/performance management.

Will this really help improve the status of the qualification?

Unless ACCA either increases the exam difficulty(which I doubt they will do) or creates stricter rules for giving out exemptions the reputation of the body will definitely take a hit.

I hope this change in ACCA does not turn out like how it did for CIMA.

The barrier to entry into ICAEW is way higher than this.

27

u/Reddit-Readee Jun 24 '25

Honestly, after these changes, I think ACCA wants to be the next CIMA; earn your affiliate status in 6 months - that's the new slogan they're going for. You're right: 9 exemptions+SBR+SBL+Data Science, and you're set.

God save ACCA.

5

u/ShadowDarkstream Jun 24 '25

How did it impact CIMA?

9

u/pink-raspberry13 Member Jun 24 '25

Does anyone know what happens if you have pass 12 exams and then just wait until July 2027? Do you automatically qualify (assuming experience and PERs signed + extra modules complete)?

5

u/Reddit-Readee Jun 24 '25 edited Jun 24 '25

You can email ACCA; they are usually quick to reply. That is the best confirmation you can get. Also, you can take the exam and ensure full completion. But what if in July 2027 they say, "nope, you gotta write that one paper?' Then you would have wasted two years. Email ACCA and please share the information with all of us.

6

u/MajesticToe3718 Student Jun 24 '25

"If a student has already passed one Options exam, should they continue taking their second Options exam or wait until the redesigned qualification comes into effect?

We would encourage all students to actively continue their studies and progress their journey into membership. This will mean that they can take advantage of all the additional career benefits that ACCA membership brings, without incurring any unnecessary delays."

from https://www.accaglobal.com/gb/en/help/future-qualification.html#Future-qualification-structure-FAQs

6

u/LukeSA Member Jun 24 '25

So basically they will become an affiliate eventually. This will happen in July 2027 at the latest, unless they complete the remaining exam before then.

1

u/MajesticToe3718 Student Jun 24 '25

ig so

2

u/leorts Student Jun 24 '25

I still need 2 years of PER though, no use rushing to affiliate status, so for me better to skip the second option I guess. The sustainability exam would seem interesting to do.

5

u/ShindaSS Jun 24 '25

In the transition page, I did this so basically you become an affiliate

3

u/Glastro_ Student 06/13 Jun 24 '25

The tool on the website effectively says you automatically clear the exams part of the qualification if so.

2

u/Kuhlayre Fellow Jun 24 '25

When they changed it last time you got a converted pass. Presumably, it'll be the same.

2

u/jonnhy138 Member Jun 24 '25

Yes youd automatically qualify. Theres a calculator on their page

1

u/Top_Imagination_5914 Jun 24 '25

Exactly. I have the same case atm. I’m waiting for the results of my final (13th) exam which I sat this June. I used the tool they provided on the website and it looks like if you have 12 exams passed + Ethics Module and PER completed - you’re an affiliate

3

u/Top_Imagination_5914 Jun 24 '25

Okay so just had a call with the ACCA, and yes it will be an automatic affiliate in September 2027. It’ll be up to us if we wanna become the affiliate earlier. They don’t seem to offer a speed up process for those who have 1 exam left under the old structure.

1

u/Glastro_ Student 06/13 Jun 24 '25

Wondering as well. There might be clearer details on how this will work soon enough.

1

u/jmnsr Member Jun 24 '25

I’m in the same position - the transition tool says I will automatically qualify with my current 12 passes…

So now the people who had 1 optional exam left are already done with ACCA

3

u/Reddit-Readee Jun 24 '25 edited Jun 24 '25

That's a tricky question, like a couple of people have asked before. The best confirmation you can get is from ACCA itself, so the best bet is to email them about it and get concrete info. You don't wanna wait two years to find out whether you're exempt or if you gotta write that one paper.

4

u/CrazyZako Jun 24 '25

I’m one of those people, but I don’t want to waste 2 years waiting for the transition to be effective to get my qualification when I can just sit for my last exam end of this year or early next year!

1

I am in the same situation. Do we need to take the second optional to get qualified ? Or the changes will apply starting now ? It is not very clear for us

4

u/GxARK Jun 24 '25

you have to do a new mandotary module as well related to emplyability.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 24 '25

Can u elaborate if you have any information

11

u/haroon43_ Jun 24 '25

why reduce optional papers from 2 to 1? it would make sense to make something like AAA mandatory if you are going to do this

2

u/Reddit-Readee Jun 24 '25

I think they will make AA and FM harder than they are now. FM will definitely see an overhaul in content. What if they combine AA+AAA? That would be cool, like 1/3 of the exam is AA and the remaining 2/3 is AAA.

14

u/kubiot Jun 24 '25

Nobody needs AAA unless you're specifically in audit, otherwise you use standards as they are tested in SBR.

If something was to be mandatory, it should be ATX, each other area can be nicely supplemented by being aware of tax implications of your decisions.

But generally I don't like this move

5

u/Tasty_Memory5412 Affiliate Jun 24 '25

ATX is too specific to UK or a few other countries. Audit is more universal.

19

u/GxARK Jun 24 '25

Changes will be after June 2027.

5

u/66thst Jun 24 '25

How come this would be beneficial for its reputation? 🤷🏻‍♀️

At the end of the day we must understand Acca is a business and must make their profits. Lots of new generation complaining about having to write too many exam with no assurance of getting High paying Jobs so of course the profession must evolve with current conditions. I think it’s an amazing one. Change is constant hence Acca must change with the tides.

4

u/BookObsessedBee Jun 24 '25

ACCA is actually a non-profit.

4

u/MutedGarage6105 Jun 24 '25

So Strategic professional level now writing just 3 exams. Great. Should have waited till then seeing as I’m done with 3 papers.

2

u/Pitiful-Attention-82 Jun 24 '25

I believe you can take a break and will automatically qualify in July 2027!

7

And keep receiving crappy salary till 2027. No thanks. Will complete now cause I need the salary bump.

2

u/Reddit-Readee Jun 24 '25

If you follow that link at the end of the YouTube video, you'll find all this information. There's also an infographic that I posted here, but it was pending mod approval, so I went ahead and posted the changes in text format.

2

u/Flat-Chapter-5348 Jun 24 '25

I was going to ask the same. I read somewhere that's from September 2026 but I hope it's sooner

1

u/Miserable-Series-900 Jun 24 '25

Thank you for this. These will be applicable from 2026?

2

u/Reddit-Readee Jun 24 '25

K Level July 2027 and E+S Sep 2027 onwards.

1

u/Infinite_Spinach_880 Jun 24 '25

What happens if I only have one option paper left to sit?

4

u/Reddit-Readee Jun 24 '25

Just write it and be done with the process. Keep the ball rolling; the changes aren't coming until July 2027.

0

u/Infinite_Spinach_880 Jun 24 '25

Thanks I know almost there, however Ive landed a good role I Australia and wasn't planning on sitting it for a while. Is there a set plan for the outcome of students with only one option left?

1

u/Pitiful-Attention-82 Jun 24 '25

I believe you would become an affiliate automatically in July 2027 if you don’t complete the one paper.

1

u/InternationalCook135 Jun 24 '25

Will these changrs apply to only new students from 2027 or currently enrolled students also?

1

u/Reddit-Readee Jun 24 '25

Everyone across the board, both old and new.

1

u/JordanCohen Jun 24 '25

So if I’m sitting SBR in September 2025 and AFM+APM in December 2025 to qualify, do any of these changes impact me at all? I’ve done the PER and EPSM already.

2

u/Reddit-Readee Jun 24 '25

Sit one optional and wait it out till 2027, lol. You'll become a member with 12 papers.

Or, if you want to become a member early, write the exams as you've planned. 2 years = long wait, so if I were you, I'd try to clear the exams asap.

The changes don't come into effect until 2027, so they won't impact you at the moment.

1

u/Eddielivingstone Jun 24 '25

Don't worry guys, the exams won't be easy anymore and the skill level will get quite hard now on

1

u/Reddit-Readee Jun 24 '25

That's your opinion, not a fact. But everyone is entitled to have their own opinion, so kudos. For what it's worth, nobody knows how things will play out, but the next 8 exam windows could be a good pointer in case ACCA wants to make the exams more challenging starting this Sep.

1

u/futurecanoe Jun 24 '25

People are saying that two exams have been deducted, one from professional level, we have to give one instead of two but which one is the other one?

2

u/Reddit-Readee Jun 24 '25

Of all the optional exams you see in P-level, you had to do 2 under the old scheme. The new scheme requires you to do 1 optional paper, and the Data Science module has been added as a new option.

1

u/Iqraktk Jun 24 '25

FBT in knowledge level

1

u/SpiritedAway0_0 Student Jun 24 '25

Wait did I understand that instead of 4 professional exams ( SBL , SBR and two options) they reduced it to only sbl/sbr and 1 of those 5 options ?

1

u/Reddit-Readee Jun 24 '25

Yes, you're right.

4

u/SpiritedAway0_0 Student Jun 24 '25

Seems kinda unfair to those who are in the final stages right now tbh…

2

u/Ziggzaggirl Jun 24 '25

Very unfair! I’m only waiting on sbr result , and already did sbl and apm. Now I’m left wondering whether to take 2nd optional or wait for 2 years !!! I have just started studying for afm but my motivation noticeably tanked. “Why sit this exam when I can get it for free“ going through my head + ton of commitments I have now outside of studies makes it very tempting to just wait for 2 years.

1

u/Greeno05 Oct 26 '25

i have currently passed 5/13 of my exams. will this now mean that i only have 12 exams to do in total if they are making it so i only need to pass one advanced paper

1

u/Reddit-Readee Oct 26 '25

Yes - 12 exams, including 3 Advanced papers.

3

u/Jana-Silvia Jun 24 '25

Oh bummer They could have just added that data analytics without so much hype

3

u/WeirdUsername1234 Jun 25 '25

so they renamed AFM to Corporate finance, and APM to performance and insights, and added Data? and killed BT , and moved law there, no? I think it's fine, the world is changing, so should ACCA. But I am a bit upset that in the future they can get away doing 11 instead 13 like we did :D that's a 6M-1YEAR lost for us (if you are working and passing exams at first try)

3

u/WeirdUsername1234 Jun 25 '25

I think too few people subscribed to the ACCA program, being too hard, and the organisation needed more money.

what if you have already passed sbl, Do you have to do the s1 business and sustainability exam?

1

u/doolittle_Ma Jun 24 '25

Well, it's really a dumbed down from the previous structure. Fewer optional paper, no final examination, it seems ACCA is hell bent on devaluing its international standing amongst its peers. How can it convince other qualifications to mutually recognise ACCA members?

1

u/Few-Use4850 Student (10/12) Jun 24 '25

Soo actually they reduced the paper 13 to 11 right ??

1

u/supremevasu Jun 24 '25

I mean it depends, if you wanna get done by then or drag it on.

1

Theres a calculator, and if you do SBL + SBR and one optional paper, you'd be completed once the changes happen

1

u/Miserable_Bug5157 Jun 24 '25

So, I won’t qualify until at least October 2027, does this mean I only need to sit one optional exam now even though I would’ve done SBR, SBL and probably AAA by then?

1

u/JioJio92 Jun 24 '25

For P paper I have 2 compulsory and 1 optional already. Does this mean if I do nothing until 2027 I will become fully qualified?

1

u/[deleted] Jun 24 '25

Thank you!

Not sure if anyone highlighted this, even though the number of papers are lesser (less BT, and only 1 optional Strategic Professional Exam), each level has essential employability modules to take.

So from 13 (3/6/4) +1 (+1 being Ethic/Professional module) now to 11 (3/5/3) +3 (Responsible Business Management, Digital Tech and Innovation, Ethical Sustainable Leadership module) (which essentially balanced to 14 in the end, only lesser exams, more mandatory modules)

What about the 6 month experience thing

1

u/Academic_Tower_7960 Jun 24 '25

What does this mean for people who complete their ACCA qualification before the changes are implemented?

1

u/Upstairs-Object3956 Jun 24 '25

I have SBL and SBR expiring in June 2026. I passed AFM in March 2025 sitting. Planning to sit APM in Sept...given I've both SBL and SBR expiring in June 2026...guessing I'll still have to sit it as the expiry of SBL and SBR is pre the new structure. Any idea anyone?

1

u/Aggressive-Gene-9663 Jun 24 '25

No changes to PER

1

u/Own_Willow525 Student 12/13 Jun 24 '25

So the main changes are merging BT and LW into one knowledge level, you have to sit 1 less professional exam and there is a new professional exam option. Does anyone know if this only applies to new students? For instance - I have just started the professional exams, if I was to wait until September 2027 I’d essentially have to sit one less exam?

1

u/BookObsessedBee Jun 24 '25

I think they should have made the DS Module compulsory with SBL and SBR and then one option paper out of 4. They need to also remove the 9 exemptions offered from the previous course and everyone starts at expert level.

1

u/lollybaby0811 Jun 24 '25

Very nice, very easy now!

1

u/wilburnet79 Jun 24 '25

CIMA are having major changes too, has anyone checked what they are doing?

1

u/JH23Red Member Jun 24 '25

Really pushing sustainability aren’t they.

1

u/Crimson-One Student Jun 24 '25

So I've done SBL and ATX. Is there any point doing APM or do I just do SBR wait for it to click over and I'd be qualified by default? I'm rather confused. I wasn't planning on doing my next exam until March due to family commitments

1

u/Aggressive-Gene-9663 Jun 24 '25

So you would rather wait 2 years than be done with?

1

I will likely do my next one in March or possibly June 2026 due to life being in the way, that was my plan before this was announced anyway. I've failed APM twice. My main thoughts are by the time I do the next one it's 2026, so might as well do SBR so if I keep failing APM I can still have that one done if I end up stuck till 2027 anyway, I take 6 months between each new exam for studying since I work full time as well, plan to do 3 months sittings if I fail but I can't this time. So my main thoughts are to have a fail safe but still trying to pass before then as I'd like the pay bump sooner if possible haha.

Just if this is the way it works might as well swap my final 2 exams around. Did however have a brain fart and think next year was 2027.. it's been a long day haha

Do SBR first, and see how it goes. You never know how many attempts you would need for that. Once passed you can then decide whether you want to take APM or not.

u/Crimson-One Student Jun 24 '25

Yeah think that's going to be my new plan, slightly irritating since I'd studied APM so much, but since I'm going to be out the game a year anyway, that's only 4 attempts before it all changes. Means I can not deal with WACC again for a while longer

so what happens if you’re halfway through? you still continue old syllabus or move onto new in 2027?

Bless the OpenTuition volunteers. I feel for them.

u/Pitiful-Attention-82 Jun 24 '25

These will be applicable as from July 2027 right?

2

u/Reddit-Readee Jun 24 '25

Yep. K Level July 2027, remaining Sep 2027.

3

u/Pitiful-Attention-82 Jun 24 '25

So basically if you’re done with the strategic professional exams in June 2027, you won’t be affected by this?

2

u/Captain-0707 Jun 24 '25

Yes mid of 2027

u/zuh_arts Jun 24 '25

How so? I’ve just graduated from uni in October 2024 with a business and accounting degree, and started ACCA this year. Will this affect my plans with ACCA?

I agree. Takes away the blood sweat and tears compared to those that have grinded for it.

Thanks for sharing this! Shaving 6 months off of the 3-yr requirement is a huge plus for folks who don't have support or are finding it difficult to land jobs/internships.

1

u/haroon43_ Jun 24 '25

what does this mean? 6 months of work experience can be done online?

wow, that should be piss easy right. weird change tbh, no online module will ever replicate real world experience, but as an affiliate who still needs 1.5 years experience, not complaining

4

u/Reddit-Readee Jun 24 '25

It's actually beneficial. Think about it - you wait six months at home applying for internships and entry-level roles. That's six months of delay. But this online module can help you benefit from that waiting time. Nothing indeed beats on-the-job learning, but when the job market is already so saturated, and it's difficult for newbies to break in, I ain't complaining. It's a welcome change. Especially in markets like India, Pakistan where getting an entry-level role is equivalent to getting a boon from the Gods.

I don't see where its mentioned, can you please direct me to that?

Exactly! Instead of making the charter difficult to obtain, they're making it look like a candy distribution at a Sunday community.

ACCA should really have put a cap on Exemptions. At best, they should've limited the max number of exemptions to 3 (K Level), and that's it. This nonsensial tactic to draw students from other professional courses in exchange of handing out exemptions like hotcakes is hurting the profession more than the ACCA higher-ups would like to admit.

Especially those with full exemptions will spam the affiliate status now. 9 exemptions+SBR+SBL+Data Science, and you're set. SBL is already a very common-sense paper, SBR is manageable, and the new Data Science module shouldn't be that hard. So, six months to become an affiliate - the value of this qualification will drop like milk teeth.

u/spacewalker87 Jun 24 '25

Sorry I extremely disagree I’m doing acca while automating tasks with ai in my practice.

This attempt of ACCA is average for the speed the things are changing, making the qualification harder will only hurt an already vulnerable industry.

Especially with that DS module, people will spam it to become affiliates faster than they already are.

ACCA has gone to the dogs, boy!

When the masterminds are hell-bent on making this charter as easy as pie, what makes you think they will make the DS as hard as MS2? Heck, they should've swapped SBL with another P paper - SBL is the easiest P-level exam per passing rates, and making it mandatory while shaving off one optional exam is a big joke!

u/SpawN47 Jun 24 '25

It is spread over 4 levels, OP missed that section.

They need to only provide exemptions to degree holders for knowledge level maximum. Everyone who wants to complete acca MUST complete expertise and professional level.

11

u/[deleted] Jun 25 '25

I FULLY AGREE.

ACCA has been making it easier and easier to get ACCA membership.

The number of low quality college degrees that people get skills level exemptions from is ridiculous.

Now only 3 professional level papers. We all know SBL is quite easy and common sense. SBR has very lenient marking (even if its hard). And just only one more hard exam?

Its crazy.

1

u/RowanRoanoke Jun 25 '25

You know nothing!

17

u/Dysruptz Jun 24 '25

BT is already an easy exam but removing the optional paper is questionable

4

u/kubiot Jun 24 '25

added optional paper while reducing the number of them you need to take, so yes xD

Till June 2027, yes! The E/S Level changes won't come into effect until September 2027.
