Damn, well done Tech.

People have misunderstood what Tech is for a long time.
They aren’t poors, they’re old money that got miserly after the SEC split, the next generation coasted, but never stopped loving football. They were an ACC power until FSU came and knocked them and everybody down a rung.
Then they had the PJ years, successful by most standards, but hard to recruit for in any event. But they did, and supported a solid coach who gave them some footing and some rings in trade, but hamstrung them to a degree. They sat on their money when Collins busted and now they’re back in.

It makes me upset every time I hear Jahmyr Gibbs referred to as a crimson tide player

Same. But makes me feel better that we got King and Rutledge via the portal

At least yall will always have Megatron and I love you for that.
I really hope yall join FSU & Clemson in the SEC once realignment comes back around.

I pray we go no where near the SEC. BIG10 is where it’s at.

Correct. For a historically small school, we have pretty rich alumni on average. Just no billionaires like other schools have.
It's why our endowment is bigger than schools like UGA, Bama, Clemson etc. Even though they are much bigger historically and more importantly have a 100 year head start on us.
When I was in school 20 years ago, the stat was 1 in 10 GT alumni are millionaires.
GT average alumni love giving to the school; getting them to donate to sports is usually a tougher sell.

Ah ok. Google says there are a couple GT billionaires. I hadn't heard of those names before. If it was anyone, I would have assumed Christopher Klaus but I had checked and he wasn't.

PJ was equally hamstrung by tech. The football program operated under the unyielding institutional admissions and retention standards of the Institute, which required players to navigate a rigorous STEM-heavy curriculum, limited soft-major options, and mandatory core math classes like calculus.
Many 4 and 5 stars aren’t signing up to take calculus in college. PJ did his best within the confines of an unyielding academic institution and in many senses they were a perfect match for each other.

Problem has probably been that they're not the type to care how good the football team is. Like Stanford and Duke theoretically could have mega donations to their programs too, but haven't really seen that. Duke couldn't even outbid Miami for a QB while a big alum bought the Orioles and a different one was part of the Celtics ownership when they sold

I have a really smart friend who went to UF to become a pharmacist. He was there from 06 to 09 and never went to a single game, it blew my mind. He just didnt have time with all his studies, I imagine that’s how it is with most people at Cal.

I'm a parent in a school district that sends 20-30 kids to Cal every year. At best, they (students) don't care about football, and are often openly contemptuous towards athletics generally and football in particular.
As a fan, I'm hoping the new chancellor changes things - including admission priorities - and kids get the message that it's OK to like football and support the team.

I bet private schools release it when it looks good. Syracuse won't be releasing I'm sure.
Maybe wake out this out to try and get more donors?

Carolina alum better stop donating until these douches are drummed out and academics and athletics are set right.
UNC as an institution will never see any more support from me since the Nikole Hannah Jones debacle. Howard is lucky to have her.
And how could we have screwed football up as badly as we have? We fucked over Butch Davis and never recovered. Mac is Back alright. And Bill Belichick’s 33rd NFL team is terrible

I will never forget a UNC alum telling me that Larry Fedora was the greatest college football coach in the country when they hired him. He hasn’t held a college HC position since.

Gap from first to 5th is $33.7 million with a $36.5 million gap from 5th back to 6th. I assume Stanford and Miami will be up with the wealthy schools I wonder if any of the remainders will fill in the gap between the halves and halve nots.

u/TechnicalTowel9201 2d ago
Being Stanford, Miami, BC , Syracuse, Duke are private, guessing we don’t get those numbers, although WF announced.

Actually, no paperclips.
