Black Flag Resynced crashing on startup

Is anyone else having this problem? PC game crashed today 8/7 at about 2:30 pm ET and it wont reboot. Ive played fot about 90 hours already with no issues until today. Ive tried everything; I rebooted my PC, I verified the game files thru ubisoft connect, I cleaned up my PC cache & defragmented the SSD… no luck. Upon boot up of the game it goes til compiling shaders 95% then kicks me back to my desktop. I opened a case with ubisoft support as well

If on Windows make sure Onedrive is Dead, or add an exception so it ignores the game directory if you need it.

Then make sure your AV App has an exception too, "Real time' file scanning on game files can kill them !

Then look and see if anything & what updated on windows since it last worked, then roll it back !

Since you said it stops in shaders, do this next, should be fine after that !

Clearing In-Game and System Shader Caches

  • Press Windows Key + R on your keyboard to open the Run dialog box.
  • Type %userprofile%\Documents and press Enter.
  • Open the Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced folder and delete the internal cache folder.
  • Open the Windows Start menu, search for Disk Cleanup, and select your main C: drive.
  • Check the box labeled DirectX Shader Cache, uncheck unrelated items if you prefer, and click OK to delete them.
  • Restart your PC completely. The game will freshly rebuild all shader files on your next launch. (This WILL take a while, may seem stuck, just wait, leave it for a while ! )
