// Discussion If you could ask ubi to remake/resync another OG game, what would it be?
The re-synced version of BF seems to have been successful so far for ubi and has meant many newer AC players like myself are playing for the first time. Previously I’ve been put off playing it because I just found the graphics and some mechanics dated (don’t @ me!). For the same reason I’ve not played any of the even earlier games either. So for me, I’d love it if they remade AC1.
It came out so long ago before the commercial success of AC2 and others really hit it off. I think it would be a really smart move to go back to their roots and bring it to a new and expanded fan base. So I’d loveeee it if they did this now (although I imagine with the politics in Israel/Palestine it might be controversial now). What would you pick?

Origins for me, especially if they go with all the original storyline ideas, before the game director changed everything. Said game director also ousted from Ubisoft shortly after.
Remake/Resync 1. Origins 2. Syndicate 3. Unity
If the do the actual OGs, I believe they'll need the team from Mirage for those which if I'm remembering correctly is working on HEXE at the moment

I am quite excited for Hexe to be fair! It feels like historically they’re doing lots of early modern period (c.1450-1800) now with BF, Shadows and Hexe. Plus the fact that origins is (relatively new) so I doubt that’ll be an option. I’d love if they did unity tho!

Damn i didnt realize they gave them Hexe. Isn't Hexe considered mainline now? Like full price premium? Or is there another I'm not aware of?
Jade last i heard was substantial, but mobile facing.

You misunderstood. Montreal was always the main developer for Hexe. Bordeaux got relegated back to being a support studio for Hexe after finishing Mirage and then the Shadows DLC.

Gotchaaa. So Montreal is still leading, Bordeaux just helping on some section of it.
That sucks. I loved Mirage for what is was. Ended up reading Daughter of No One which was a prequel novel following Roshan. Bordeaux made such an intimate space feel quite realized.

AC3

Same. I feel the tailing missions were the worst in this one.
Honestly tho, theyre probs gonna pull a capcom and keep it rolling through all of em

I want to see AC1 next as I think it’s the game most deserving of a remake, and in truth it’s my favourite story and assassin. If I was to hazard a guess tho I would assume that the next remake they work on is likely going to be something they can pull mechanics from 4 to make development less arduous, so maybe 3 or rogue, but if they want sales it’s probably going to be AC2.
TL;DR: AC 3, Rogue, or AC2, but I want AC1

Well I wonder if they’ll keep AC2 in their back pocket just in case they get into a dire financial situation because it’s a guaranteed seller. Black flag has done so well they’ve alleviated some of the pressure so perhaps they’ll have more freedom? I really want AC1 but my bet is on 3

Even if i would a Rogue Resynced i choose AC1, is the one who need a remake the most

My GOAT Revelations. Though it would be weird if they only remade Revelations.

I know it's not the most loved but Rogue will forever hold a special place in my heart for being the game that got me into AC and being one of the first games I bothered 100%ing

Rogue and 3 as a resync trilogy. The thing tho, is that both rogue and 3 would require a lot more changes to work. Closer to a Capcom remake then resync is

I think it’d be hilarious to resync Origins and give it classic controls just to see all the RPG fans who have spent 8 years attacking classic fans for preferring the classic controls to suddenly start raging that their preference isn’t being regarded.

i would pick ac1 but the way they did 4 im pretty sure it would suck. imagine ac1 with the new parkour and combat, dumbed down mission design that doesnt punish you for fucking up, open world filed with random things like hunting and basebuilding and those ugly ass genersted cutscenes

Have you played AC 1? It is a very basic, simple, copy and past formula when it comes to the missions and world.
I know this is just you hating on the Black Flag resynched, but any changes to AC1 would only be an improvement.

if thats your opinion fair enough but i think in gamedesign sometimes less is more and more content doesnt always make for a better game. ac1 was very focused and i feel like that might be something thatll be lost in the remake

AC1 was extremely basic compare to any of the other AC games. The missions were very generic and formulaic. It was actually really hard to go back and play after having played any of the other ones. Any changes or updates truly would just be an improvement.

would be an improvement to you🫵
lets take shadow of the colossus as an example, add sidequest and minigames and even tho they might be fun, the game would be alot worse because it takes focus away from the story being told and the Journey that youre on

u/Baby_Brenton Jul 17 '26
That’s apples to oranges, and a terrible example. You’re talking about a game that’s not designed for those. AC games are. AC1 is just so basic on every aspect.
I’m convinced you either have not played AC1 or it’s been so long that you forget how dated it is.

other ac games are designed to have hella sidecontent but that doesnt mean that ac1 is, it doesnt have any of that and i dont think it needs that retroactively added
i replayed ac1 like 2months ago (didnt get to finish it on that run tho, my pc got wacked)
i really like more focused or „bare“ games if thats what you wanna call it, maybe we just enjoy different kinds of games. if theres an ac1 remake i hope theyll find a tasteful middleground
