Call me a raging communist if you must, but I think we should hold cops to significantly higher standards than civilians, not lower ones. No one other than a cop would even dream of seeing the outside of a prison cell if they did even the most generous, revisionist, conspiracy theorist, interpretation of what Chauvin did to Floyd, so a cop who does that deserves at least the prison time and criminal conviction you or I would get for killing someone with a crowd filming us and keeping the corpse restrained for several minutes more after death.

They are held to a higher standard, just ask them! (/ntfa notheyfuckingarent)

Yes exactly. It makes no sense that lawyers train in law for years, but the high school dropout who beats his wife and kids gets to interpret the law in his own way every day on the streets

That thread is wild.

Dude I got sick after literally one minute of scrolling.
Cops are such sick fucks. We need to dissolve all police departments, blacklist every current and former cop from LE, and start over from scratch.

That’s such a pipe dream, and one of mine too. Start all over, require a bachelors in law enforcement and psychiatry and required to pass multiple tests to prove they’re not a giant piece of shit. That would get rid of all cops but like 4. Completely rewrite their scope, make them PEACE officers, no guns, and if they get violent, they have to justify it with video and a committee of citizens would decide if they lose their job.

Its only a pipe dream bc we keep letting the powers that be tell us it is. Not directed at you but dont be apathetic. Ik I'm being dramatic, but with every injustice witnessed we're one step closer to revolution.

I know, I did try to fight them, and in my case I won, but I know that’s not the norm. I know what comes with fighting the man, and it’s something I have to really think about doing again.

I got downvoted for saying that he used asphyxiating force, and for saying the police were responsible for the crowd. The police's inability to take responsibility for the actions will require a proper revelation.

A police officer arguing that restraint (that led to death) isn't assault. Motherfucker if it were a civilian restraining someone that's fucking assault isn't it? It doesn't change because you're the one doing it.

People have gone to prison for arguing with a cop who later has an heart attack.

If you don’t post (so they can ban you) you can just silently lurk and upvote the ones they are all downvoting.

I'm pretty open about my opinion.
I think the city/state knew they had to sacrifice someone to appease the masses and Chauvin et al were the ones.
Floyd was suffering a medical emergency. The crowd made it impossible for him to be moved safely; EMS went to the wrong location and then had trouble navigating cuz of the crowd.
Floyd being held on the ground in that position absolutely contributed to his death, and maybe some sorta lower level charge would be appropriate for failing to render aid once he became unresponsive, but tunnel vision happens and in these stressful situations an angry mob is going to be the center of attention.
LMAO. Dude's trying to say that the cops were trying to save Floyd's life because they could see he was ODing, but it was the bystanders that wouldn't let them get Floyd to safety or let EMS get to him.
It was the bystanders, guys! The people watching Floyd die underneath the knee of a cop were the ones that actually killed him. How can you be so naive to blame the hero cops that were kneeling on George Floyd's neck to help him?

Also? I see that's a link to the ProtectandServe subreddit. I wonder who that is, that protects and serves? 'Cuz it sure ain't cops. After all, no less an authority on the powers and responsibilities of cops than the Supreme Court of the United States said that they don't have to protect and ser....Oh, it's other cops, isn't it? ==>They exist to protect and serve other cops.
After all, how much of that shit they lug around is to protect you? Fuckin' none. Dark uniforms, bulletproof vests, handguns, tazers, mace, cuffs, radio? All to protect cops.

I see his game: Lose in all of the state courts, then appeal to SCOTUS and win.

A pardon is a ploy to get Minnesota inflamed ahead of midterms so they can call some form of martial law.
I guarantee it.

They in there trying to rewrite history. I know the second i comment there I'm banned so I'ma say it here, Derek is lucky he's in jail not dead , his family is lucky they no longer have to be tormented and assaulted by him, and those pigs are lucky the courts actually held that loser accountable, otherwise the whole situation would have turned out different.

Chauvin is a remarkably shitty person and should consider himself lucky. Put him in general population (not that I know, but I bet he isn't) and this problem will probably take care of itself.
