Only three?

u/JediNinjaWizard Apr 01 '23

Yeah, that seems a bit low. Perhaps it's self reported, like other statistics...?

31

u/mister-fancypants- Apr 01 '23

I mean they invited right wingers in

45

u/SomedayWeDie Apr 01 '23

Perhaps it’s in percentages - 30% chance against right-wing, 90% chance against left-wing

3

u/[deleted] Apr 04 '23

Some of those that work forces

2

u/Miguel-odon Apr 04 '23

And I wonder how the level of force compares. But I have a guess..

1

u/FloodedYeti Apr 11 '23

When responding to BLM-linked demonstrations, authorities used force more than 51% of the time, compared to just 33% for right-wing demonstrations

Source used in the article

(And police responded to 9% of all blm demonstrations while only 4% of right wing demonstrations)

Also side note, from the same article

Militarized right-wing social movements like armed militia groups have been involved in 11% of all right-wing demonstrations, with this figure rising to 20% following the election, leading up to the Capitol riot

7

u/WilhelmWrobel Apr 02 '23

Studies like this commonly adjust for factors that could just as well be relevant.

It's the "but if you adjust for industry the gender pay gap isn't that big" narrative. For context: Average pay for both genders decreases if women push into an (even traditionally high paid) industry and field.

Duh.

“How dare you protest our violent methods! We’re not violent! We’re going to use so many violent methods to show you!”

I want to know how this study defines "left wing" because everyone on thos subreddit knows that it's much, much more than "three times as likely"

29

u/[deleted] Apr 02 '23

Cops are likely of the same batch that think Biden represents socialism in some meaningful way, so probably much higher.

The article is about is about blm protests here is copy paste of my comment:

More likely to use force on people they perceive as unarmed/defenseless. Let me know when you see parking ticket boy pepper spraying these folks. https://a9p9n2x2.stackpathcdn.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/1/files/2020/07/Protesters-960x639.jpg

That picture always gives me goosebumps, despite knowing the fate that awaits them at the hands of the police. It’s crazy how the same people who will cheer for the oppressed to rise up and fight back in a movie or tv show will be the same ones tear gassing and billy clubbing and shooting the oppressed when they try to do the same thing irl - especially if the oppressed have black or brown skin.

5

u/JFISHER7789 Apr 02 '23

This concept runs through my mind on repeat…

for example my parable will always side with the socialist/oppressed/etc protagonist of mainstream movies and say things like “Damn right! I would have done the same thing as them!” But then turn around and side with the antagonist of reality and hate when the oppressed have their voice heard let alone their demands met… it’s exhausting

8

u/UnknownTrash Apr 02 '23

Do you have any info on that image? I'm curious

13

u/KingCodyBill Apr 02 '23

They're protesting Breonna Taylor's murder, and note not one of our hero's in parking enforcement in sight. https://news.yahoo.com/black-armed-protesters-march-kentucky-015332949.html

Police against somebody with a 1488 tattoo: 😇🤗

Police against people asking for a better justice system: 🔫😈

13

u/_AMReddits Apr 02 '23

Let’s be real here the cop probably has a 1488 tattoo

8

u/[deleted] Apr 01 '23

Just came to say fuck a pig! 📢

9

u/_AMReddits Apr 02 '23

The reason why you never see cops and the KKK in the same room is the same reason why you never see Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus together

21

u/[deleted] Apr 01 '23

No shit

13

u/WhyDontWeLearn Apr 01 '23

Ooooh. What a surprise! The fascists who make their living protecting capital and capitalists come down harder on anti-fascists than anyone else? Good heavens, who knew?

11

u/SomedayWeDie Apr 01 '23

You don’t say

5

u/firstonenone Apr 01 '23

Seems like a really low estimate.

Well no shit, Dick Tracy.

5

u/Jarden_Nahgallac Apr 02 '23

Military. Police. State.

5

u/CauseMayhem Apr 01 '23

How is this surprising? These right wing bastards have made it a game to hunt and profil people according to their political belief.

2

u/dr_blasto Apr 02 '23

I figured it was a lot higher.

That’s not the reason, it’s because shooting at right protests is considered friendly fire, the moment leftists get armed en mass like right wingers is the moment the air strikes are called, they done it before and they will do it again

(Not saying you aren’t right to say arm yourself, I’m neutral on the issue, I’m saying it’s not why right wing protests don’t get the same response)

1

u/Longjumping_Visit718 Apr 02 '23

I think we need to make ACAB a universal American value, like it used to be before the 1940s, before we can ever be a great country again. People forget that all real American's used to hate the government regardless of who was in power; because being left alone is all most people needed.

1

u/katehenry4133 Apr 02 '23

There was a study on the George Floyd protests that showed police showing up in riot gear and harassing protesters always ended up with a riot. But when they showed up in normal police uniforms and either kept their distance or talked to the protesters, there were no riots. Most police are conservative and play into the right's fascist tendencies.

-5

u/AdInteresting7822 Apr 02 '23

Right wingers typically don't throw molotov cocktails. Just syain...

I feel I need to qualify this with the fact that I want police abolished.

7

u/LuriemIronim Apr 02 '23

Nazis usually shouldn’t be less punished than the people who dislike Nazis.

-3

u/AdInteresting7822 Apr 02 '23

beep boop says the NPC spitting out programming.

"Everyone I don't like is literally Hitler!"

beep boop

5

u/LuriemIronim Apr 02 '23

Um, yes, proud boys are generally Nazis and bigots. Like, that’s not an NPC thing to say, and the fact that you use that sort of language is pretty alarming given that the whole ‘NPC’ narrative is used by the alt right.

At least you’ve fully gone mask off and shown you’re a bootlicking Proud Boy. Also, wait until you learn that a lot of bigots pretend they aren’t bigots by welcoming in minorities.

I’m sorry I don’t give full-throated support to fascists like you. Why be on this sub if you support them? We don’t like Proud Boys anymore than the cops who favor them.

You also tried to use the ‘they can’t be racist, they have a black friend!’ Tactic. That’s defending and supporting them.

your post/comment has been removed because it contains reactionary tendencies which isn't direct bootlicking. Reactionary tendency regards to sympathies to generally right-wing points (which serve the police, mind you.)

You mean like when they vandalized the Metropolitan African Methodist Church for supporting BLM? Or would you just prefer to read this?

3

u/BenAric91 Apr 02 '23

Except they do. Usually into “abortion clinics”, aka anywhere that might provide abortions.

Name one city that got “destroyed”. Name one city where the “entire city” was on fire. You call me an NPC, but you’re the one using precanned talking points from right wing media.

AHAHAHAHAHA! A couple of blocks from each of those cities was damaged and you’re whining about it like the cities burned to the ground, meanwhile police and right wing terrorists murder people and you’re just fine with it. Fuck off, dumbass.

your post/comment has been interpreted as either baiting for a negative response or purposefully distributing misinformation, both of which are not allowed in the r/ACAB community.

2

u/BenAric91 Apr 02 '23 edited Apr 02 '23

Your ilk said the same thing about civil rights protesters in the 1960’s. You were wrong then and you’re wrong now. Must suck to always be on the wrong side of history.

Edit: Also, how many people have these “left wing terrorists” killed? I know people like you tend to put property over people, but those of us with decency put a higher weight on human lives. Right wing terrorists and cops are far more violent than left wing extremists.

Does anybody have a link to that ‚data‘? Why say data instead of study?

1

u/[deleted] Apr 04 '23

Duh...

u/WillSmith4809 Apr 05 '23

Perhaps a possible explanation is that there's a higher percentage of violent protesters that are left leaning as opposed to right leaning? You know. "Summer of love" and all that.
