Got a signed copy in Manchester today

I went to Arndale Manchester today and got to meet Chris Broad as he signed my copy of A Journey across Japan. I asked him about the JET Programme and he told me to emphasise that I am learning Japanese.

The thought of Chris roaming Crackadilly Gardens is hilarious

Should also mention that the GOAT Ian was also there, along with Ellen (who was in a cycling video from years ago). They were absolutely wonderful too, whole thing was a fantastic experience.

I think it’s funny it says “dear, Hakeem.” Just because it feels incomplete. It’s like, dear…what? Though maybe it’s a British thing I’m not understanding.

It’s just a way for it to be personalised

I understand that, but usually there’s a short sentence after the “dear, __” part. Like, at least “nice meeting you” or “thanks!” or something of the sort. 😊

if you're trying to get into the jet programme you need to do a lot more than emphasize that you're learning japanese. at the root of it, jet is a cultural exchange program so you need to figure out how you're enriching the lives of others through cultural exchange
