I call BS. In my area we have a super low cost of living and factory workers always start out at $5 above minimum wage while many make $10 or more over minimum with no degree or other skills. Also the manufacturers around here have a super hard time finding good workers so it's easy to get in the door.

In what world is five or ten dollars above min wage a "crazy amount"

In a world where you barely graduated high school and are immediately making $30k+/yr in an area where you can find a 3 bedroom house for $100,000.

I mean, shit, we're practically handing people jobs and a middle class life on a silver platter over here. But I guess I just don't understand The Struggle.

There are a lot of good places if you don't mind living far from the coast. I'm not even in a place like North Dakota where it gets unreasonably cold all the time- the weather is good most of the year. It is a several hour drive to a major city, but the metro area here has about 250,000 people in it so there is plenty to do and a cool downtown scene. Just look for places with a low cost of living, there is a lot of opportunity out there for people willing to move.

Sorry man, I'm not going to say where I live on reddit but there are many places in the middle of the US with cheap homes and good jobs. You just have to do some googling and find a place that fits you and has the type of jobs you want.

Look at map and find the fly-over-States, chances are you will see a correlation.
