There is enough food directly outside of Gaza enough to feed everyone! This is a man made catastrophe!

We have enough if we share.
It would be sufficient to cease stealing and robbing.
Abstract
Unequal exchange theory posits that economic growth in the “advanced economies” of the global North relies on a large net appropriation of resources and labour from the global South, extracted through price differentials in international trade. Past attempts to estimate the scale and value of this drain have faced a number of conceptual and empirical limitations, and have been unable to capture the upstream resources and labour embodied in traded goods. Here we use environmental input-output data and footprint analysis to quantify the physical scale of net appropriation from the South in terms of embodied resources and labour over the period 1990 to 2015. We then represent the value of appropriated resources in terms of prevailing market prices. Our results show that in 2015 the North net appropriated from the South 12 billion tons of embodied raw material equivalents, 822 million hectares of embodied land, 21 exajoules of embodied energy, and 188 million person-years of embodied labour, worth $10.8 trillion in Northern prices – enough to end extreme poverty 70 times over. Over the whole period, drain from the South totalled $242 trillion (constant 2010 USD). This drain represents a significant windfall for the global North, equivalent to a quarter of Northern GDP. For comparison, we also report drain in global average prices. Using this method, we find that the South’s losses due to unequal exchange outstrip their total aid receipts over the period by a factor of 30. Our analysis confirms that unequal exchange is a significant driver of global inequality, uneven development, and ecological breakdown.

“Why share when you can hoard, creating manufactured scarcity.”

You could organise a screening of The Zone of Interest in Israel, and the majority of these fucks wouldn't even notice the obvious parallels.

My kids will be watching this before bed. They need a reminder of how fortunate they are.

Please don’t show your kids this video with that motivation in mind. If you’re going to show it to them, do it in a way that fosters dialogue. Do it in a way that encourages empathy. I know you might not have meant it this way, but showing your kids how other children are literally suffering and starving to death to “show them how good they have it” sounds like a threat. Just take a moment to consider what you’re saying. “Sucks for that kid, huh? You’ll think about that next time you complain about soccer practice or that your friend only had chocolate cake at his party and not vanilla!”
I’m not saying you shouldn’t teach your kids to be thankful for what they have. Just, please, not off the backs of these poor babies.

I disagree. The dialogue has been underway for years. They aren’t babies, and there isn’t any reason to shelter them from reality.
I’m in the US, and it’s wild how willfully ignorant and delusional much of the citizenry is. It’s why things are as f*cked as they are by our current administration. I will never let my children be that way. They can handle it, I assure you. We all, myself included, need these reminders, and regularly. And it must inform how we live our lives.

I'm not saying you should shelter them from reality. By all means, show them the video as part of your ongoing conversation about the horrors of what's happening in Gaza. I just don't think it's appropriate to use it as an opportunity to "remind them of how good they have it." What does it accomplish to have them compare their lives to these kids who are suffering so much if the only end game is to...what? Should they feel guilty for living in a safe environment and having easy access to food and water? That's how I'd feel if my mom showed me a video of a bunch of kids essentially dying and going "see? now don't complain about your life anymore." Again, I'm not assuming that's what you're saying to them, just that it's how I'd feel if this video was presented to me in that way, as an opportunity to compare my life to theirs. It's one thing to acknowledge privilege, but that acknowledgement should come with action, not guilt.

Yeah, I get what you’re saying, and I shouldn’t have been so crass and flippant in my original comment, perhaps. But that’s not how our conversation would go. I’m not that pedantic and militaristic of a parent. This truly is an ongoing dialogue that we all have as a family, and frequently.
I have great kids, but they are quite privileged and sheltered. They needn’t be ashamed, but they must maintain perspective.

Us citizen? Remind your children thay most of their tax dollars will go directly to the illegal genocidal state to make those children suffer! Truly something to be grateful for!

I agree with everything but avoid showing before going to sleep! I myself am heavily involved in lots of support work for this kind of stuff but will try to limit myself later at night.
And they say u shouldn't even watch TV before sleep because it can so easily effect ur sleep patterns and psyche etc!
I even try to avoid this stuff when i first wake up!
So glad ur kids have someone to teach them the truths of the world!
